Another Day [CLOSED]

After Lamia said she was fine Laine waved it off like it was nothing, but Magic knew there was something going on. He didn't want to press on it though because well.. they didn't need an argument here or something similar. Eventually, he decided, he would ask her about this stuff.. When he finally had enough courage to anyway.. Though that probably wouldn't happen until after the got back to the school..

Lamia's question was enough to distract Laine though. "Yeah, we use it for that, and also setting up meeting points for somethings, as well as what territory we might want to take next. All of the territory you see up there was gained by Mason here. He put a lot of work into it." Laine said kind of boasting about what Magic had done, and what he had done for the gang.
Magic couldn't help but look away from the two a little embarrassed. He never liked bragging about that.

Seeing that nobody seemed to ask about it any further, Lamia figured that she did a decent job convincing them... Hopefully, anyway. Subconsciously, she fidgeted with the edge of her dress, glancing back to the map every now and then as she listened to Laine's explanation. It was a life-savior that they happened to be in the room with a giant map, but she found herself genuinely interested. From everything so far, it seemed so obvious to her.

Magic was admired and well-liked by the people in his gang. He accomplished so much and tried so hard to do his best that it wasn't a big surprise to her. But the way everyone seemed proud of him and thankful that he was his leader... and made her wonder how she wound up being his friend. Everything she did paled in comparison. Besides the part where she well... actually killed someone rather than severely hurt them. Casting a fleeting glance towards Magic, Lamia smiled softly. He never even tried to show off, either... it made her only a bit more envious. Though, it only made her realize that it was also one of the reasons why she admired him. Sure, he was powerful... but it wasn't like he constantly tried to boast. Keep doing your best...

Magic froze when he heard a lot of footsteps coming his way. He turned around in time to see a rather large crowd trying to squeeze through the door. Somehow they all managed to get into the room. They were all fighters yes, and all of them had just gotten back from some patrol or something. All of them wanting Magic's attention. Even a couple girls were among the group but there was. It was hard to understand them all at once. Magic was trying to find a way to calm them all down, but soon he found himself being dragged away from Lamia and Laine.

"Well that was new.." Laine remarked as the crowd left the room with Mason. "I didn't expect them to be so excited about seeing their old leader again.." He said with a slight sigh. The older teen brushed his fingers through his hair, and put up his long blonde hair into a small ponytail. "I wonder where they are dragging him off too?"

One moment, there were just the three of them in the room. The next? There was a whole crowd of people, and she found herself being pushed and shoved places as they tried to reach Magic. How did they even fit into the place? There were so many people... At first, she was slightly glad that none of them were paying attention to her, but when she looked around, she was somewhere completely different. She should've paid attention to different landmarks around the warehouse. Lamia bit her lip, and what was worse? Laine and Magic weren't anywhere she could see. Goddammit, she was going to get herself hopelessly lost if she moved around. Unfortunately, being as stupid as she was, she started walking about, peeking into doors to see if they were around.

Every now and then, she'd stop and take a break to re-energize herself and not pass out. There wasn't much she could do, and there were often times were she was sure she had passed by the same area twice, but honestly, there were just metal walls and doors and stairs and just a few signs that weren't anywhere close to helpful. How did anyone manage to navigate through this place on the first day? They probably had someone guide them, but Lamia didn't want to take her chances and talk to someone else, and awkwardly screw up. After maybe an hour or so, she had taken a seat in a rather desolate corner in the middle of nowhere that she could recognize.

Searching through her bags, she took out a few tools and a silver chain with a charm on it. Holding it up to get a decent look for a few moments, she let out a sigh. There were a few mistakes that she should fix... and then figuring out how to write his name on it. Absentmindedly, her thumb and finger reached for her ear, the earrings on them missing. It was a choice she had made - to use the sapphire earrings she had worn for so long for these necklaces. Maybe it wasn't a great one, but she thought it would be fine. Lamia really wasn't sure whether they valued how expensive something was or the work put into them. Nobody would really care about what she made, though. Leaning against the wall and shifting onto her knees, her hands slowly began to etch the design carefully.

It was a few hours later.

Satisfied with the front, she had turned it to the back, which was smooth and shiny and completely plain. God... how was she going to do this? Stifling a yawn, Lamia stretched for a bit, glancing back to the pendant. How much time had passed now? She wasn't sure. And she definitely hadn't seen Magic pass by. Was he looking for her? Or did he even care that she wasn't by him? To be fair, he probably didn't even notice that she was missing... That was fine, though. It would be alright if he wanted to catch up with people and forgot she existed. She would be fine with that. Time seemed to just drift and her vision went black, her eyes closing without her wanting to.

Maybe it was three or four hours by now. She didn't know, but she had fallen asleep, leaning onto the wall, the necklace and one of the tools clutched tightly in her hand with some of her belongings scattered.

There was so many things people were asking him to do. So many things.. so many voices.. so loud.. After finally appeasing the crowd for a little bit, he finally made his way back to the warehouse. He was tired, and didn't want to be around people anymore.. He was concerned the whole time because he got separated from Lamia.. Who knows what would have happened if someone else found her. Honestly anything could have happened.. not every member was trust worthy.. He just hoped Laine had stayed with her or something.

He pushed his way into the building, and saw Laine chatting with someone else.. Lamia wasn't anywhere near him.. He froze for a moment what happened to her? Laine probably assumed that she was with him the whole time.. What time was it? How long had he been going? It was well into the evening time now... The winter boy raced down the stair set and started searching the hallway and became revealed when she saw the girl curled up in the corner with something in her hand. When he got closer he realized she was asleep.. Hopefully no one drugged her or something..

He walked over to the girl and placed a hand on her shoulder and shook her a little to get her to wake up. Not really paying attention to the stuff in her hands. "Lamia.. You need to wake up.. We are going back to the hotel." He said in a soft tone. He didn't want to startle the girl.

It was scarcely noticeable, but she could tell someone had touched her. Why? There wasn't any real need... It wasn't like she fell asleep or anything like that. Lamia blinked, her vision filled with black spots and all she could see in front of her was a blur, smeared out and almost unrecognizable. Mumbling something under her breath, one arm stretched out as her eyes clenched close again. Too hard to see, no point trying to focus right now. "I-I'm s-s-sorry... D-did I m-make you wait?" was the first thing she could think of saying. Not many people bothered approaching her, and hopefully, this was just Magic. If it wasn't, then--- let's not think about that. Rubbing one eye with her hand, she felt something clutched between her fingers, and that was when she realized.

I shouldn't have taken a break. Gold eyes unlocked themselves, and with a small smile, she was relieved to see that it was just the other boy. With a small nod, Lamia quickly shoved the necklace and her tools back into her bag before getting up. She really hoped he didn't bother seeing if she was holding anything... there wouldn't be a point if he knew beforehand. "I-I'm f-f-fine, l-let's get going." Using the wall as a support, she got onto her feet. God... her vision was still so blurry. Clumsily, she staggered a bit, stumbling just a bit. Damn... she really needed to fix her sleeping schedule.

He wasn't even going to answer her question about making him wait. He had just found her again. He would have woken her up soon if he had found her sooner. He noticed that the winter girl was stumbling a bit as she tried to walk. He wasn't even going to ask if she needed help instead and walked up beside her and supported her from the side. Boy he was tired, the winter boy let out a yawn as the two walked out of the downstairs area. He wanted to get to the hotel fast. Luckily they didn't run into anyone on their way out of the building.

At first, she had flinched when he came to help her. It wasn't like she could really tell him to stop at this point, and it'd be more trouble if she had tripped and fell down the stairs. A little hesitantly, Lamia wrapped her arms around his, leaning on him to stop herself from constantly tottering and moving as though she had two left feet. The journey back was quiet, and they never wound up talking or anything. What wasn't alright, though, was by the time they had gotten to the hotel, she had realized her power might've activated by accident and she would've... Goddammit, stupidstupidstupid. She couldn't think just because she was so goddamn tired all because she couldn't get herself to sleep.

Once they had entered the room, she had taken to letting go immediately and walking towards the balcony. Her own quiet, lonely corner where he probably wouldn't think of bothering her. Lamia couldn't help it - she just wanted to be reclusive for now. There had been way too many people around, and while she never spoke more than a few words, she didn't really like being so close. Or anywhere with a chance of having to talk to someone else. She was honestly surprised she hadn't jumped into some kind of panic attack, but then again, she had dropped herself into a slumber she didn't realize she would've gone into. With a sharp intake of air, she reached into her bag, taking out the necklace once again. So close to completion... just needed to carve out the name.

Now that she thought about... what name was she supposed to use? Naturally, she would've done Magic, but he was also fine with her calling him Mason outside of school. Maybe combine the names? Magon? No... sounded like a girl's name. Masic? What was he? A mosaic? Goddammit. Lamia shook her head in frustration, motivating herself to just start carving out the 'M' and 'a'. She could decide, eventually. But I said I'd finish tonight. Why the hell did she set a deadline for this? Oh, right, because this was made for that kind of reason and the end of the vacation would be the perfect time to do that.

It's been almost a month since she first started this project, each necklace taking about five days or so each just to make the frame, and then she had to go remove the gems from her own jewelry that she obtained over the years. Her mother always told her that, if she found people who wound up accepting her, the best way to show her gratitude was to make them something that was also connected to her. Did the stones count? All of their designs were based off the heirloom that was passed down through her family. Admittedly, Magic's was only a different color palette than hers and the charm was flipped, but... Oh well.

The night sky out there was always so calming and soothing. She could see the stars clearly, but the city lights glowed in their faded bubbles and only added to the beauty. It was different, and Lamia wanted to remember it - from the way the stars shined to how the moon hung in the air to the breeze that stroked her softly. There may be trouble and other problems in Chicago, but she couldn't help but want to see it in a better light. The town that Magic came from... would it be wrong to say that she wanted to protect its happiness? The happiness of the people here. The happiness of everyone around her. That was all she wanted now.

Her own happiness never mattered in the first place.

Magic couldn't be more thankful that they had finally reached their hotel room. After Lamia let go of him, he didn't bother to see where she wondered off to. Instead he headed right for his bed, and flopped down on it face first. He blindly reached for one of the pillows. Once he found one he placed it on top of his head and pushed it down so it muffled the sounds that he could hear.

The one thing he hated about this city was how loud it was. At least now he didn't hear every conversation.. but it was still pretty loud. He had managed to ignore it for the first two days well mostly but now it was taking a toll. His head hurt, his ears hurt. He loved his gang member but why did he have to be so loud? Why did everything have to be so loud?

The winter boy let out a sigh. This pillow wasn't really helping at all. He could still hear the people down below. Curse his good hearing.. Why did he have to inherit that? Why couldn't he have just inherited his power? Well.. the hearing came with the power... Mason lifted the pillow, and scratched the back of his head before replacing the pillow to cover his ears once more.
