All Will Fade to Black [Closed]

"What would stop me from leaving the school when you disappear for a while like you have been doing lately." She mumbled out. She could leave anytime he wasn't around and he would never know until a few days later maybe. And how was this school the safest place when her kidnapper knew where she was, and wanted to take her back? At home she had a police officer to protect her, and a fireman. They both knew how to deal with dangerous situations, she didn't. Wouldn't she be better off with them?

Oh, so she was going to play that game, was she? Well, two could play at that. "This would stop you: If you leave the school, I can very easily catch you and bring you back." he said, slightly upset with himself for not being around. "You seem to forget I can run faster than the speed of sound. Twice the speed of sound to be more exact." he added. He only knew how fast he was because of his time in Argona's army. They tested his speed somehow, and that's how fast they had tortured him into running. Barry, however, was only about half as fast, able to run at Mach 1.

She looked away. "Even so.. you wouldn't know I would be gone for a few days.... with the disappearing acts you pull.." She was going to be a bit stubborn about this. She didn't want anyone worrying about her. It would be better if she just left, and went back home. Ed could go back to the oh so important person, or thing and not have to worry about coming back and checking on her every so often, even though lately it wasn't often. She could go home and feel safe again. It was the best option, how could he not see it? Why was he so insistent she stay? Why did he care? No one cared.

Ed was going to be stubborn right back to the girl. "Just because you don't see me, doesn't mean I'm not there." he responded. "And what part of 'I can run twice as fast as the speed of sound' don't you get?" He debated on bringing up this next point before saying it. He knew it was a low blow, but if he wanted to win this argument, he would have to bring it up. "Not to mention, the moment you step foot outside of Beata or Rosebury, you're an easy target for whoever's 'coming' for you. Inside Beata, no one's going to get past the entrance."

"No one is going to get past the entrance huh?" She said in a bit of a low tone. Her brown eyes looked up at him from the side of her eyes. "Didn't you, mr. spy?" She didn't forget what he had told her that time ago where they were in her dorm room like this. She didn't judge him for it, but it was something she could use, and she was going to use it seeing how he went low as well.

Edward barked a short laugh despite flinching at her mention of him being a spy. "You got me there. But your kidnapper a) isn't as young as the average student and b) isn't a part of an evil gifted organization." he replied, not letting her win. He wouldn't let this girl win this argument. "If he does get in, I'm assuming he's not gifted so he'll get his ass kicked pretty quickly."

He seemed to underestimate her kidnapper. He wasn't some old ugly looking guy. He was actually rather young looking, and had a good look to him, though who knew what prison did to him. He had a way with words that could usually easily convince someone of something even though it wasn't true in the slightest. Also this guy had people he could easily get to come to the school to take her back. Even if he was just a regular person he still had some tricks up his sleeve. And if he was out of jail and trying to get her back there were probably a few of his 'friends' that would probably help with money efforts, and other things in trying to get her back. Rose's voice quieted down a little bit, returning to her slow speaking, and her hesitation with certain words. "He... he has connections..." She said, her eyes going back to the ground.

Edward faked a hurt look. "Are you saying that I don't?" he said. Despite him not being in Argona's Forces anymore, he still had friends that hung around. "I'm still very well connected. I have eyes everywhere." Rose was not going to win this, no matter what. Stubborn was his middle name.

He wasn't getting it, he wasn't getting it at all.. He may have been able to outdo in connections, but this guy had connections that could easily sneak into this school just as Ed had done. But Rose still didn't believe him about having eyes everywhere. Rose never went into Rosebury, she never left the school, and unless Ed had managed to make a lot of friends at the school, she doubted his statement. "I still want to go home... he doesn't know where that is.." he stated not giving him the full satisfaction of 'winning' the argument.

Edward sighed. There was no winning with this girl, was there? "But how long until he figures that out? If he's as good as you say he is, it'd only be a matter of time before he figures that out." he retorted, frustrated. Why couldn't she just understand that staying here was the best option for her? Was this what it's like arguing with him?

"I would... I would feel safer at home... My mom would be there... so would my dad.. They would protect me.." She hid her face on again her fingers still messing with the ends of her sweater. "They wouldn't ever leave me alone..." Not to mention she would be a whole lot happier than she is now. Even though she didn't have any friends at her old school. She was safe there.

He sighed again. He knew that he couldn't keep her here if she didn't want to be here. "Fine. You do whatever you want. I'm not gonna stop you." he said, defeated. "But I'm also not gonna help you either."

Rose didn't say anymore after that. She just sort of moved away from him, and stayed wrapped up in her little ball to calm herself. She felt bad for what she had said, she was stubborn and didn't want him to win the argument, but she knew what some of he was saying was true, but she also knew what she had said was true as well. Ed didn't know what this guy could do. Rose knew the dangers and she would rather not relive them. If her mom took care of the issue this guy could end up in prison for the rest of his life. If Ed did something he could end up getting in trouble, and something bad could happen to the winter. "I... I don't want you to... end up in trouble... cause of my... issue...."

"I've done things that should've sent me to the electric chair ten times over yet here I stand. I think I'll be fine." he replied. "Besides, at least if I get in trouble helping you, it'd be for me doing something good and not what I used to do." He didn't try to scoot closer to the girl, he knew that when she needed her space that he should give it to her.

Rose could feel the tears welling up in her eyes again. Why did she have to be this way? Why couldn't she be strong like before? She wasn't worth this effort. She wasn't worth someone getting in trouble for. She wanted to be safe but she wasn't sure if she was worth killing for. "I.. I don't... think I.... am worth it.." Her eyes were getting a bit droopy and she was getting tired from crying so much.
