A Warm Welcome?

Louis said his last farewells to his parents and they soon drove away. He silently looked up at the school wondering so many things. I wonder who my friends will be, where will I be sorted, what dorm will I be in?

It wasn't often that she was lost in thought, but here she was at the entrance, sitting at the fountain.

That cliche thing where people tossed coins into the water with a wish on mind. How stupid... Tabitha took the lollipop out of her mouth, mindlessly flicking another penny in with a satisfying plop!, the calm surface of the crystalline pool disturbed by a wave of ripples. The entrance was generally peaceful, considering that it was summer and the most experienced students were getting ready to graduate. And that tranquility was disturbed.

A car had pulled up to the entrance and someone new came out. Annoying, she thought, turning her gray eyes away. She would've left if she wasn't so defiant on keeping her place. Tabitha wasn't going to like this - she was the only student currently at the school's gateway. Newbie was going to ask her for directions.

Louis saw the girl sitting by the fountain and could tell she was annoyed. I guess she is not the best person to talk to. He thought to himself as he silently walked past her, hoping she would not cause drama. It wasn't that Louis was rude, but he was good at telling wich people to talk to and wich to not.

Good, she thought with a sigh of relief. He got the message - Tabitha wasn't exactly a friendly person. She didn't like talking to others, period. Placing the lollipop back in her mouth, the girl took strides back into the school until she was at a point where she was walking at a quicker pace. Looking off the corner of her eyes, this was the kind of guy she didn't like. But, she wasn't a terrible person. Jabbing one finger out, she pointed out towards the west side of the school, cocking her head, "The office is that way. You'll get your dorm key and schedule over there." Ugh, the idea of being helpful was disgusting. "Some prefect might guide you to the dorms, but if not, they'll hand you a map."

"Uh, thank you. Hope your enjoying that lollipop, have a nice day." Louis said with a smile. He could tell this girl hatted people in general but the least he could do was be nice. And who knows, maybe they would become friends someday.

What the hell? The one thing he took notice of was the lollipop? Tabitha's eyes narrowed dangerously and she spun on her heel with a small 'hmph'. Who points out what someone was eating? That was rude, first of all. And secondly, it was mostly a plea to ask for one of your own. Shaking her head, the fourteen year-old girl started her way back to the Autumn dorms. Maybe her roommates weren't doing something stupid today. Good gods, after their dumb midnight journey, she hoped they weren't. The corners of her mouth turned up wryly into a smirk. "Have fun then. This school is a pain."

He watched the snobby girl walk off. What's up with her? he whispered.

A bird from a nearby tree saw the newcomer. New person? He looks nice! She flew over to the bench. Hello! she tweeted, though he couldn't possibly understand her.

Louis saw the small bird and heard a hello. "Why hello!" he smiled back. "Do you know what her problem is?" he asked. And after a minute of chatting he said goodbye and headed to the initiate dorms.
