Not Built for Winter [open]

He was starting to get tired of all strange looks. After everything crazy, murderous, and downright illegal that the people at the school had seen, after all the things they had done, they chose to be weirded out by his choice in clothing. Of all fucking things.
Liam pretended not to mind as he lounged around on a courtyard bench. It was the middle of autumn, and already the chill was taking over the land. The world was starting to cover everything in frost. Many went out to buy new boots or new jackets. But him? He was still in the same damn uniform: his pants thin, his shirt short-sleeved, and without a single goosebumps to show for it. Perks of being a literal fireball.
He glanced up at the peak of a statue not a few feet from where he sat. Long since unpolished and covered head to tow in white flower, Liam breathed in deeply, and then let it out. Flames erupted from his silent scream, brushing against the stone and almost instantly causing any snow or frost to appear. "If you're good, God, send me a distraction." He begged quietly.

Liam had fallen back on the bench as soon as he'd let his flames go out, or so he'd thought. His eyes narrowed, watching as the last of the snow disappeared, and instead of quickly sizzling out, the fires only seemed to grow. He couldn't say for sure how surprised he was, only watching in complete puzzlement as the stone statue was engulfed, turning a blinding shade of color, practically beginning to melt away. "What in the hell...?" He muttered under his breath. He'd was at a loss, fairly certain he wasn't doing a thing other than sitting there, and glanced uncertainly at his hand.

It wasn't until he'd heard a new voice out of his line of sight that things had started to make sense. He turned his gaze away. First Ginger, now Red? "Nothing it did in particular," He said back simply, "This school as a whole is completely dull." His gaze traveled back to the statue, putting his attention close to the flames. Even as he thought to put it out, the light stayed, burning into hot licks of fire once more. "A neat trick of yours?" He mused.

Jake and Pepper walked onto the scene, not doing anything in particular. Jake let pepper lead, kinda acting as her body guard. He never really followed her around for the lovy-dovy part of it, but for his friend Louis. "Hey guys. What might you two be doing?" Pepper said in her usual sweet, caring tone. Looking at Cayden, she raised a brow. Jake stood there in silence wondering what the two would do.

The summer glanced up, watching as the seemingly invulnerable statue melted down and blackened into an ugly mound, leaving soot in ash in the small surrounding area. Was fire his thing? That was a rather bland way of asking about it, he thought, at least rather than he was used to. People she showed off his gift to were completely amazing by his power, hut then, he supposed in a school and town where literally everyone was a special superpowered snowflake, he should get used to being another face in the crowd. For some reason, the thought brought on a sharp twinge of irritation, yet it didn't show on his calm, collected face. "You could say that," Liam said, raising his hand and enveloping in flames with the quick snap of his fingers. "And it's not yours?" What sort of gift could this shrimp have that could mess with his fire?

Before he could get a real answer, another couple strode in, such a cheesy looking pair: a sweet girl and her tall, demeaning guardian. What a show. He hadn't found the need to say anything, this other guy had seemed to cover anything Liam could have said himself.

Pepper couldn't help but laugh. "Lovebirds? No, no, just friends. Trust me, I'm more like his mother than lover." She whispered teasingly.

"Hey." Jake said with a frown at what Pepper said, but ended up smiling. "Times are kinda slow right now, we figured we might as wander, see if we could catch anything interesting right now." Jake grabbed a cigarette from his pocket, his figure turned into a lighter.

"Jake!" Pepper said disapprovingly when she saw him about to smoke. Couldn't he learn that most students were against smoking?
