Project Kewaunee Empty
PostSubject: Re: Project Kewaunee   Project Kewaunee EmptyTue Aug 18, 2015 1:20 am

INCEPTION

For years, gifted people existed in secrecy, honing powers no one would ever believe. Though small issues occurred here and there, these people were always fairly harmless, left to their own devices, to train in a quaint school called Beata Academy in the town Rosebury, North Dakota. It was fine for years. Beata Academy should have been an independent sanctity.

It was in 2045, however, that things changed. Attacks and reports of strange happenings began surfacing, first on conspiracy blogs and later on legitimate news sources. These gifted people were beginning to be uncovered, and the attacks did not cease. 144 instances were confirmed throughout the US. Thousands were reported. Though Beata Academy remained a secret place, the existence of gifted was becoming increasingly unmasked. The US government decided to take action. Nathaniel Wright, headmaster of Beata Academy, was forced to sell his school to the government. Beata Academy was given a timer; and in 10 years, in 2056, in shut its doors.

However, in those ten years, a new academy was being built; approximately a dozen, in fact. The president finally gave a speech on the issue for the first time, with the announcement of Kewaunee Academic Park. Paved over the small town of the same name, KAP, known simply as Kewaunee by most, boasted a safe and thriving environment for gifted to learn to hone and control their powers. Gifted from around the country were forced to attend the school.

Tests became the new measurement of power, power and mental acuity tests rated on a scale of S, A, B, C and D. About 2.5 million gifted were forced to travel to the city to take the tests. If you scored lower than an A on any of them, you were forced to stay. Harboring an untested gifted became illegal, and it became mandatory for gifted to go to the school. People young and old were ripped from their homes, more than 86% of gifted scoring lower than was necessary to leave. You needed to score an A on the annual tests. You couldn't leave unless you scored an A on the annual tests.

Welcome to Beata Academy. Welcome to Scarboro Academy. Welcome to Birchwood Academy. Welcome to Sofia Academy. Welcome to Bruemmer Academy Elementary. Welcome to Westside Elementary. Welcome to Kewaunee University. Welcome to Ellis University. Welcome to Central University. Magic lies in challenging what seems impossible. Enjoy your stay.

Project Kewaunee Empty

SCHOOLS
Schools in Kewaunee Academic Park are the essential reason to why it exists. To graduate from a school, you must be ranked an A or S in the annual placement tests. These tests are very difficult to be ranked well in, though, and students often don't graduate until university. Still, some students won't even choose to graduate upon reaching A-rank, either wanting to succeed S-rank or just by not wanting to leave the city.

Universities
Universities in Kewaunee house studetns 18+, and house the most students of the three educational branches in the city (University, Academy, Elementary). University students often spend the least amount of time in the city, but make up the majority of its work force. University students are not permitted to wear uniforms.

KEWAUNEE UNIVERSITY
"Liberum perdiscendum magnitudine"
Kewaunee's only free, public university. Its founder is listed as Mathias Vernon, President of Kewaunee Academic Park, and is where 45% of university students go to learn. It is not necessarily inept in its educational process, but it is overcrowded and underfunded, and is seen as a social stigma. Central students have an average graduation rate of 4 years. It has yet to produce an S-rank.

ELLIS UNIVERSITY
"Pŵer a buddugoliaeth"
Founded by S-rank Welsh businessman and trillionare Cefin Crewe, Ellis University boasts a medium-sized tuition and a focus on quality of gifted over pace of graduation. Of the three universities in Kewaunee, it is the only one to have produced an S-rank in each year since establishment. However, it has an average graduation rate of 6 years. Its teachers are the best, albeit the strictest, in the city, and it is known for its peculiar architectural design. It is located by the Gaslamps, the cultural hub of the city.

CENTRAL UNIVERSITY
"Potes, non possumus"
Golden gated and pristine in build, Central University was built as the epitome of learning in the city. With a wealthy tuition, it contains the city's richest students. Its teachers are some of the most cunning and sociable, and are capable of teaching you not only how to use your power, but how to take the test efficiently. Central students often graduate in their first year of life in Kewaunee Academic Park. Its headmaster is a woman by the name Eleanor Riley, thought to be one of the most powerful women and the most powerful American in the world. Central students are usually automatically considered for Halls they apply to.

Academies
Academies in Beata are typically for middle schoolers to high schoolers, bearing the most potential of the three school-types. Academy students are required to wear uniforms during weekdays, in or outside of school. The uniform colors dictate what school they are from, and the ties they wear with the uniforms dictate the hall. They are also required to live in a hall, as only university students and workers are allowed apartments. Most of the city is academy students. It is rare for academy students to hit A-rank.

BEATA ACADEMY
"Magic lies in challenging what seems impossible."
This school is free of tuition, not by low quality, but by a will to teach and hone beyond profit. It is the oldest school in Kewaunee Academic Park, stretching long before the city's incarnation to the early 2000s. It is run by Nathaniel Wright, S-rank and longtime Headmaster. Though this school is all-around great, it has been given a bad name, seen as having failed to train students before Kewaunee, and leading to the city's incarnation. Beata uniforms are black sweaters, vests or blazers, with white shirts or blouses underneath."

SCARBORO ACADEMY
"To all, education."
Scarboro has the largest age-span of the non-university schools in Beata. It is seen as an elementary school, middle school, and a high school. The Collectors, the name for a sort of police who find homeless and orphaned gifted, will bring them to Scarboro, which is adjacent to the Kewaunee Dormitory Halls, the default halls of the city. Scarboro has low quality in teaching and condition, and many students fail to succeed in it. No A or S-rank has come from it. Scarboro students wear plain white sweaters, vests or blazers over white shirts or blouses, often with the gray tie of the default halls.

SOFIA ACADEMY FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
"Πραγματοποιήστε τα πάντα"
Not all students are at Kewaunee Academic Park against their will. Sofia is for students who want to hone their gifts out of their own accord, students who have transferred in from other countries. Sofia is pristine, and outrageously expensive to go to, and the students there are often considered snobby and pretentious. They wear navy blue sweaters, vests or blazers, and wear a pin with the flag of their home country on their chest.

BIRCHWOOD ACADEMY
"Magicae vires determinatio"
The hardest-to-enter academy in the city. Birchwood students often excel to A-rank, and are seen as the most powerful students in the city. Their campus is large, overlooking the river. It includes private riverside beaches. Its headmaster is considered the president of Kewaunee Academic Park, Mathias Vernon, who is also the official headmaster of Kewaunee University. Birchwood students wear beige sweaters, vests or blazers.

Elementaries
These are for children from kindergarten to 5th grade, young children who have no chance of graduating. Because of this, these schools aren't very serious, and basically are prep for academies. Uniforms are simple in these schools. Most elementary children live with their parents in an apartment, though some came without parents, and live in the adjacent halls.

BRUEMMER ELEMENTARY ACADEMY
Seen as the better of the two, Bruemmer is an Academy-prep school that gained partial-Academyship when an 8-year old girl became the youngest to transcend to A-rank. It is named after the nearby nature reserve. Children in these schools wear white button-up shirts as a uniform.

WESTSIDE ELEMENTARY
Westside Elementary has the higher enrollment of the two. It is seen as more kid-friendly, treating kids with more warmth than academic preparation. The staff at Westside feel the stresses of the test should not weigh down on young children, and don't take it too seriously.

Other Schools
These are schools that are optional to partake in, schools that do not offer any help towards the test but that are more for extracurricular activity.

KEWAUNEE SCHOOLS OF MUSIC AND ART
Located near the Autumn Dorms, these are places where you can either learn an instrument/art, or practice them freely. Each building is rather small, with a few classrooms and an open recreational room. These schools are free to attend at any time of the year.

AUGUSTA MARINE SCHOOL
A school founded by a team of marine biologists. It studies the lake's life, and students often go on boating trips to see this life up close for themselves. The boats are often used for fishing, and lessons can be found in that as well.

Project Kewaunee Empty

HALLS
Halls are mostly-private dormitory buildings that vary in acceptance rates and qualifications. People in one hall often share many attributes. Some halls are obviously in better quality than others, but these are hard to get into. While the uniforms themselves correlate with the different academies, the ties students wear correlate with the halls.

WESTSIDE/BRUEMMER HALLS
Qualifications: Must be of elementary school age
Westside and Bruemmer Halls are the two elementary halls of Kewaunee. All long-time residents have stayed here one in their lifetime. They are pretty standard and blank dorms, often crowded with 3 or more children. Kids in these Halls do not wear ties. It is a common joke that if someone loses or forget their necktie, that they are considered a little kid.
Spoiler:

KEWAUNEE DORMITORY HALLS
Spoiler:
Qualifications: N/A
These halls are the most generic halls, housing newcomers and many orphans, homeless, and delinquent children. It has the largest buildings of all the halls. Each dorm is single roomed, with two beds and a bathroom. Most of the rooms do not have air conditioning, and bugs are a problem, but it's all right I guess. Residents of these Halls are called "Monos." No one knows where the nickname came from;  some say it is because of their monotone ties, while some rumor it is because all the residents are dirty and diseased [with Mono].
Spoiler:

WRIGHT HALLS
Spoiler:
Qualifications: Must be a student of Beata Academy
The Wright Halls were build by Nathaniel Wright alongside Beata's new incarnation, so students could have a quality dorm option. They are single roomed, 2-bed dorms with bathrooms. They are well put together and include two desks, however, and are located beside the river with its own small, private beach. It isn't a social stigma to be in this dorm, but it doesn't make you popular either.
Spoiler:

WERNICK HALLS
Spoiler:
Qualifications: C-rank or above
Wernick Halls are a mid-ranked Halls, rarely acceptant of anyone under C-rank. They are associated with Kewaunee University, offering programs to students in these Halls in an attempt to recruit higher-leveled people to their school. Despite that, a lot of their students are pretty cool, but the relative distance from the rest of the city has taken from its numbers, making it rather small compared to some halls. Hall members have personal rooms, rooms that are relatively small compared to other dorms, but a personal room is a personal room. Students share floor bathrooms.
Spoiler:

HAREN HALLS
Spoiler:
Qualifications: B-rank or above
Haren Halls are one of the dormitory buildings located nearby the Gaslamps, one of the smaller ones, locates also by the lake. It is a high-end dormitory, accepting mostly B-rank or above. Their dorms are single-roomed and pretty large, but their community sense is low. The dormmaster, Travis Haren, lives on the top floor, and is a bit of a drunkard, in the city for the check you get for owning a Hall.
