forgot to post this last weekend. it was just sitting around in my drafts. o well
The Wall + The North:
- I enjoyed the segments of the episode at the Wall. Jon's loyalists get locked in a room with Ghost, Mel, Davos, and his body. Edd runs off to get help from the Wildlings against Alliser Thorne and the rest of the NW members that betrayed Jon. Cool. I'm pretty pumped to see some battles. It looks as if Ramsay and a bunch of Bolton soldiers are gonna be attacking Castle Black at some point, too, due to his assumption that Sansa and Theon are there. I'm hoping Ramsay gets his fucking head beat in, but you know.. Twenty good men and plot armour thicker than the Wall are on his side.
Oh yeah, and I could have done without the saggy tiddies scene. x__x //bleaches eyes
- I'm pretty chill with Sansa/Theon's current story arc, too. While I don't really want Sansa to become some sort of brutal, LSH-esque killer, I am kind of looking forward to her not being a victim anymore. That seems to be what her story is progressing towards at the moment. Undoubtedly, a good bunch of the northern houses will rally behind her if she calls on them. Theon's redemption arc from the books was cut really short for the show, but I guess I can accept that because they have a lot of story to cover in S6, especially with with the addition of the Riverlands and Greyjoy subplots. I also really loved Brienne's scene with Sansa, where she finally gets to pledge her sword to her after chasing after the Stark girls for so long. It was touching, and reminded me of when Catelyn took Brienne into her service. :'o
King's Landing:
- Honestly, I was kinda of expecting Cersei to be a bit more.. Enraged. Mad with fury, y'know? I admired Lena Headey's performance, but I don't know.. That whole Myrcella segment was kind of underwhelming. Jaime and Cersei's lines were a bit corny.. And speaking of Cersei and Jaime, why are they still so close? In the books, their relationship really starts to fall apart once Jaime goes off to the Riverlands to deal with the siege at Riverrun, and we were all pretty thankful that the twincest was finally ending. In the show, I was kind of hoping that Cersei would lose it on Jaime for not bringing Myrcella back alive. It just seems like a Cersei thing to do, especially after all that's happened to her with the High Sparrow.
Also, can somebody explain why Margaery is still locked up just for telling a single lie?
Dorne:
- Just.. Come the fuck on, D&D. I already went on about Dorne in great length in my first rant (that I lost), so I don't feel like redoing three paragraphs of rage. I'm just really unhappy with Dorne and I hope we never have to see it again. Rest in peace, Areo Hotah and Doran. I'll never forget how the show wasted your potential. :/
Meereen + Dothraki Encampment :
- In my opinion, Tyrion and Varys really under-reacted to the Sons of the Harpy burning Dany's entire fleet. I also think it's kinda odd that the show had Daario give Dany the exact same number of ships that Victarion had in the books, and then burned them. I mean, Euron and Yara/Asha are there to fill in Vic's parts, but still. Kinda odd. I can't really complain about this much though, because we're getting EURON FUCKING GREYJOY, but really, Tyrion? Is ninety-three ships being burnt just a minor inconvenience..? Anyway, Tyrion and Varys' dialogue together was funny, as always. The bit about Tyrion's rusty Valyrian skills gave me a chuckle. They're such a good duo for comedic breaks.
- And so Dany's back with the Dothraki. It's interesting to watch Dany, who has been virtually untouchable since the end of season two, finally be brought back down to square one. She's being forced to join the Dosh Khaleen, and Drogon is nowhere to be seen. Nice to see that the Dothraki have a bro code, at least, also. Khal Moro and his bloodriders had a bit of a Monthy Python moment, which I can appreciate, because Monty Python is awesome.
.. Also, I'm calling it that Daario and Jorah are gonna find Dany and try to rescue her, but the Dothraki will find out and seize them, and then just in time Drogon is gonna swoop in and save all three of them.
Braavos:
I don't have much to say about Braavos, because barely anything has happened there yet. Keep truckin' on, Arya, we believe in you. Kick the Waif's ass pls.
