No Strings Attached [Open]

It was a nice day outside. The clouds were rolling through the sky occasionally showing blue through the breaks, and other times not showing the bright blue sky behind it at all. It was nice, at least from what he could see, which wasn't much. He kept telling himself he needed to wear his glasses, but he hated how they looked. Occasionally he would be told it made him look cute, but most of the time he felt they just made him look ugly so he sort of squinted at everything.

Mitch sat on one of the benches in the courtyard his arms resting on the back of it, and his head tilted up towards the sky. The bright red strings tied around his fingers, that seemed to glow a little, could clearly be seen now. Normally he had them hidden or where they couldn't be spotted so easily but at this moment in time he didn't care.  He shifted his right hand slightly, and red strings darted from around his fingers and into his pocket for a moment, before dragging a little heart shape of light blue quartz from his pocket. Grasping onto the threads that held the rock he held it up above his face, studying the pale blue rock. He moved his arm back to it's former spot letting the stings go, and only be held up by his fingers, with the strings still supporting the small piece of quartz.

The teleporter had been walking around the courtyard, admiring the nice day. She occasionally teleported to the tops of trees to admire the view of the area when she noticed a boy sitting on a bench seemingly playing with something in his hands. Giggling to herself slightly, she decided to try and frighten the boy. She teleported behind the boy. "Hey there!"

At the sudden noise behind him, he tensed instantly, his face going blank aside from clenched teeth. It took everything in him to prevent his strings from lashing out, or wrapping around pulling the person who scared him down to the ground. The boy let out a small noise before recollecting himself, and looking at the person who scared him with a sharp red glare. "Don't do that." He growled slightly.

Bobbi took a step back. She didn't expect him to react like that. "Oh I-I'm sorry." she said, looking down at her shoes. The teleporter didn't mean to frighten him that much. She was just trying to have a little fun.

Mitch shook his head, pulling the rock back into his palm, and stuffing it back into his pocket. The strings vanishing back to the small loops around his fingers. Then he realized that the girl had taken a step back, and apologized. He blinked, then spoke up. "It's fine.. I just don't take to well to being scared." He straightened out his head and looked over to the side. "Uh.. Bad things could've happened.." He added afterwards. He didn't need to be getting in trouble with the school a short while after he joined.

She smirked slightly. "Bad things, huh? Well I can just do this," she said, teleporting to the front of the bench. "I can take care of myself just fine, you know." He must've been used to accidentally letting his gift loose on the ungifted. But she could just teleport away in a bind, although sometimes it backfired and whatever is attacking her gets teleported along with her.

"Huh.. Well that sort of works." He said. It was still dangerous for her though. What would have happened if she wasn't expecting it? Would her gift function under stress? She seemed to be able to use it now.. His fingers twitched slightly, and the threads wanted to rise away from the little loops, but he resisted. "What's your name kid?" He asked not really wanted to continue the subject of possible accidentally hurting someone.

"Bobbi." she replied simply. "What's yours?" She noticed the thread entwined around his hand and also noticed the twitch but didn't comment on it. Maybe it had something to do with his gift? It was very possible, as there are a number of gifts in the world. She guessed it had something to do with the thread, but she couldn't be too sure. She wanted to ask him about it, but he seemed like he didn't want to talk about them at the moment. So she bit her tongue and waited for the boy to answer with his name.

Mitch moved his arms by his side, and sat up straight, allowing some space on the bench for the girl to sit if she wanted. " I'm Mitchel, or Mitch." He said, he wouldn't offer a hand to shake, or anything. He wasn't fond of being touched. "So you're gift is teleportation." He commented. "That must be fun."

Bobbi shrugged. "It can be," she told him, "It's useful for startling people sometimes, or getting places faster, but it wears me out if I do it too much." She bit her lip slightly as she debated on asking Mitch about his power. After a moment or two of debating, she finally broke down and asked, "What's your gift, by the way? I have guesses on what it is, but I just want to be sure."

Well anyone's gift wears them out if they use it too much. His brother would be jealous of her gift, the thought of his brother made him want to snort slightly out of amusement, but he wasn't going to do that in front of the girl. Then she asked him about his gift. He didn't mind talking about it. "Thread manipulation. It's useful sometimes." He moved his hand slightly, and red strings shot from the loops, diving back into his pocket like they did earlier, and pulling out the piece of light blue quartz. "I can do that." The rock hung freely, but the strings were wrapped around it in various ways, barely being the blue color behind the strings.

"Wow that's cool!" she responded. It would be cool to be able to control threads. She could do so much with that, like tie people up. That would be funny. She could also use it to be lazy and use the threads to grab something that she couldn't be bothered to get up and grab herself.

"Heh, I guess it could be cool." He said. It was only useful in certain situations, and at first glance the gift would seem pretty harmless. In truth it could be pretty dangerous, but also useful. He could easily stitch up wounds without a shaky hand. He had to stitch up a few wounds on himself before because of a few accidents back at home. "It's got it's uses but there are cooler gifts out there, that is for sure."

She agreed with him, but she wasn't going to say that. It would still be fun to have his power, though. "So what brought you out here today?" she asked him, making small talk to pass some time.

"Just needed to get out of the dorm for a bit. I have a girl in my dorm who thinks she is the most important thing on this earth, and it gets annoying." He said in a plain tone. His only girl room mate decided to pitch a fit about everything that didn't go her way, and he hadn't seen much of his other dormmate. The fourth room was still empty. He hoped that he would get a decent roommate. Girl, boy he didn't care as long as they weren't annoying. "Don't like dealing with her fits, and don't like her ordering me around." He stated.
