Hearts and Roses [Valentine Topic Blind Date - Closed]

Why had he been such a fool? Theodore ran a hand through his brown hair, leaning not far from the entrance of the local restaurant as he waited for his...Date. The simple word sent a shiver down his spine and he found himself questioning what unworldly force had somehow compelled him to sign up for the silly blind date thing but he had done it and now he had to deal with the consequences. And so he stood there, leaning against the wall in a fancy suit with a thorn-less rose in one hand and the other messing with his otherwise perfectly groomed hair. Being dressed up like this wasn't much of an issue for him, he was used to it but that simple fact made this feel worst. He hated suits - they reminded him of home but if he was going to be forced to partake in this silly thing, he was going to at least do it right.

There was some fear that he was being overkill. Would his date...Anna or something? Hm...He was sure he got that name wrong. Either way, the fear that Anna or whatever her name was wouldn't be dressed up was there but he tried to ignore it as he gently rotated the rose in his hand. Did she like roses? Ah...He was fretting over the smallest things even if he didn't want to care about the date. He had been raised on giving out the perfect appearance to others - to hide any flaws that they may preserve so that you can be be at the top. It was a mindset he was slowly trying to escape from but the fear of this blind date only brought it back full force. Oh how he was sure he would dread this day...

'OMG OMG OMG!!! My. First. Blind. Date!!!'

Aina felt the urge to hop around as she made her way towards the fancy restaurant. She kept on fiddling with the last strand of her scarf, eyes shooting around with nervous excitement. She had signed up for the raffle in hopes to meet a new friend, no one said that she was supposed to date him and then marry him... Had it said that? She didn't really read through before signing up. The Japanese girl abandonned her worries as she reached the restaurant. There was no one there except a boy, leaning against the wall, so she guessed that should be Thomas. Unless said Thomas had been a jerk and was going to make her wait for him in the cold weather. "Umm... you are Thomas, right?" she asked, again finding herself fiddling with the end of her scarf. He was dressed in a fancy suit and Aina couldn't help but feel ridiculous in her casual jumper and jeans. "W-was I suppose to dress fancy?" she asked awkwardly. Had she just ruined her first date? Hopefully not. Above all, the boy was pretty handsome, and she couldn't help but feel flustered around him.

At the sound of footsteps, Theodore looked up and his heart sank slightly. Oh please no...But then she spoke and he felt a small angry blush flash across his face as she got his name wrong. Then again...He was sure that he had her name wrong. "Its Theodore," he said, forcing a small smile as he straighten up and studied her. The girl...Anna? No, wait. Aina. Yeah, Aina sounded right. All in all, Aina was rather cute. He felt out of place as he took note of her casual outfit along with a scarf and sighed slightly at her nervous question. "No," he said with a slight shake of his head. "You didn't have to dress up..." He drifted off slightly, finding himself rather unsure on what to say until he held out the thorn-less rose he had brought. Hopefully she wouldn't think of anything but the gesture as something nice - he was sure this single date would be the only one they had. "For you. Aina, right?" He tried to keep his voice cool and calm, but there was a faint flicker of nervousness hoping that he had gotten her name right.

Aina blushed, angry at herself, as the boy corrected her, and she sighed, feeling awkward. "Oh uhh. sorry about that I'm just..." she fumbled, playing with her hands behind her back. She was relieved to find out that she had not made a mistake and dressed inapropiately for the occasion, and she tried to slowly push all of the first impression nervousness away to get bac to being her bright and happy self. Aina smiled sincerely as he gave her the rose, taking it nervously and then... And then what? What was she supposed to do? A cute boy just brought her a pressent and what was she going to do for him? "Oh... thanks." she said, and stretched on her tiptoes to give the student a hug. Nothing too big, just a quick gesture of thank you, from boy to girl, from date to date.

"Its fine," Theodore said gently as she apologized for getting his name wrong and found himself smiled softly as the girl took the rose, even if it was rather nervously. He opened his mouth, ready to say something but the words quickly died in his throat as Aina suddenly gave him a hug. He blinked, his whole body locking up as he questioned what to do but that moment was quickly over as she soon stepped away - perhaps the hug was severing as simple thank you. Coughing nervously as he stepped away, not used to hugs or anything of the sorts, he glanced toward the restaurant's front door and jerked his head gently in the direction. "Shall we go in?" he said, studying Aina one last time. While he was disappointed that she wasn't dressed up, it was something he could easily get over. He...Might as well try to make this date at least a bit enjoyable for the two of them. Perhaps he would even try to get to know her once they had gotten their table.

Aina smiled apologetically as she saw the embarassment in Theodore's movements, putting the rose he had givven her in her handbag and stretching her jumper. "Yeah, let's go." she grinned excitedly, stepping in into the restaurant. It looked fancy, but at least not everyone was wearing expensive suits or dresses, like her date was. She looked back to him, motioning him to join her as she waited for someone to take them to their table. That was if, Theodore had booked one, or they were just relying on luck to get things done.

Theodore followed after Aina, glancing around the restaurant. There was people sitting around, most of them dressed up like he was. Perhaps they all were on dates as well as he brushed past Aina to the reservation desk. Luckily for the two of them, he had indeed book some seats for the two of them and after a quick mention of his name to the receptionist, he was pointed in the direction of where they seats laid. "This way," he said to Aina once he was sure what table was for them and led her in the direction of it. 

It was a small table in the back, the dim lights that the restaurant had going for the holiday making this date seem far more romantic then it had to be. There was even a lit candle sitting on the far end of the table, out of the way but still there to cast a warm glow on them. He sighed softly, thinking that perhaps choosing the restaurant as the place for their blind date was a poor choice but there was no changing it. Reaching the table, he gently pulled out the chair for Aina to sit in like a gentleman, smiling softly at her.

Aina looked up at Theodore as he pulled her chair gentleman-like, giving him a sheepish smile. She did not expect the boy she would be dating to be so good mannered and to plan a probably expensive dinner just for her, and honestly, she was enjoying it. Maybe she should start looking for a boyfriend soon enough. "Well, this place is very nice, Theodore." she complimented, looking around in what she would never have admitted as an attempt to not look at his face, lighted by the romantic candle on the table.

"I suppose it is rather nice," Theodore hummed as Aina took her seat and he moved to take his. This wasn't anything new to him - whenever his family went out to dinner this was often the type of place they would go. Anything less could seem damper their appearance if it became public and his parents were never one to take that type of chance. But as he settled down in his seat, he noted that perhaps they should have gone to a more...Causal type of place but it was far to late for that as he glanced around, waiting for a waiter to show up. After a few moments, he turned his gaze to his date. Well...He suppose they should at least make small talk. "So...Are you new to Beata?" he asked as he folded his hands in his lap.
