Bookworm [Semi-Open/Closed] Empty

The silence that was the library was music (or rather, a lack of) to the winter students’ ears. Her brown hair was curled and resting on her chest, a style she didn’t typically wear. With classes having just been released for the evening, she was still in her uniform. Although, the only difference was that she had her blazer unbuttoned, something she found much comfier when lounging in the library. Giving a wave to the librarian behind the counter, the girl put her bag in the seat she always sat in.

Gracefully, she moved to the fiction section. Something about the fantasy worlds made her imagination take flight more than non-fiction novels did. Her fingers graced each book spine, the titles flipping through her head. None of them stuck out to her. She read so many books to the point that the title simply was enough to entice her.

After a bit of searching, there was a title that stuck out to her. A Thousand Pieces of You. Pulling it from the gorgeous bookshelf, she looked at the cover. It was white, with two opposite-looking worlds decorating it. Nodding, she spun around, her feet arching to a tip-toe like state as she did so before once again lowering to the ground. Instinctively moving a lock of her hair back behind her ear, she started on her way back to her seat.

Her eyes were glued to the cover, making out every little detail she could in an attempt to figure out what the topic of the book was before reading another word. At first, her mind thought it was a romance novel. But that was out the window when she saw the cover.

The library was silent apart from the noise of a mouse clicking from the librarian, and Iovita’s shoes echoing against the floor. To her knowledge, there were no other students in the library. Even if she tried to scan for any emotions, nothing came back but that of one person. So, deciding that she did indeed have the library to herself, she took her spot in the comfortable leather chair. Slipping off her shoes, she picked up her legs so her knees rested against the armrest of the chair. Her feet were able to fit on the other side, and so she was essentially laying back.

The spine of the book fit perfectly between her knees, so she more or less had a book stand right in front of her. As she opened up the book and began reading, her elbow also rested on the armrest of the chair. Her thumb rested right between her lips, with the rest of her hand beneath her chin. It was the perfect head-support for her as she read. Quickly, she was sucked into the book.

Chip had taken his time coming back to what he considered his home. Classes were boring as usual. He could pull up any answer he needed in his own mind. Everything seemed so simple that he couldn't find something to challenge himself. His own powers have not changed since the moment of overwhelm that he had experienced many months ago. No matter how much he tried, nothing changed. Chip still could not summon anything from a book. Discontented with his progress, the short boy pushed the doors to the library. His frustration hung over him like a storm cloud ready to rain.

Books related to the homework assigned that day were lifted from the shelves and flown toward the boy. As soon as they reached him, they hovered at his side as Chip strolled to the far back of the library. He passed the girl who usually sat at a table without a word. He didn't pay too much mind to her since she first started coming in. Besides the library was a place where loners hung out. It was too uncommon to see people alone there.

Iovita had only lifted her nose from her book when her gift had activated. She could sense the slight frustration of another person, even though it wasn't something she really wanted to happen. Giving a subtle nod to the other student as he walked by, she held a sharp breath before trying to block out his emotions from her mind. That was one thing Iovita didn't like about her gift- she couldn't keep the emotions from being an annoying in-your-face type of thought. After a bit of self-discipline, she blocked him out. It was a daily routine for her, especially in class.

Looking down at her book, Iovita sighed. Placing her signature blue-tassel bookmark between the pages, she closed the book before placing it into her bag. As quietly as she could, the Winter student stood up and stretched. Buttoning her blazer back up with a single motion of her hand, boredem surged over the student. She needed something to do. Socializing was out of the question. Although...

Even if she had seen the male student times, she was still always intrigued by how the books just seemed to float around him. In the few classes she had with him, he seemed to know every answer immediately. Iovita herself didn't struggle with her schoolwork, but she just wasn't interested. Most of the time, she just tuned out the teacher, copying the notes and then either doodling or reading.

Doodling, or reading. That was all she seemed to do.

Looking towards the back of the library, Iovita had to beat down her curiosity. Taking her seat back down in her chair, she once again pulled out the book. Flipping back to her page, she shifted positions in the chair. she was leaning against the back of it, tipping it on it's back when- Whoops. Having done a decent job of balancing it up until that point, it came as a shock to the girl when it went backwards. Hitting her head on the ground, she let out a small squeak before quickly scrambling to her feet to pick the chair back up.

The sound of a chair falling to the ground momentarily broke Chip out of his grumpy state. The boy looked over his shoulder towards the girl's original position. It did not come to much of a surprise when she wasn't there, and rather on the floor. He watched her scramble to leap to her feet as if the floor was lava. The short blond did his best to keep back a laugh, but was unable to keep back a chuckle.

Chip only felt slightly guilty about laughing, but still managed a question. "Hey, are you alright?" He asked, standing a good few paces away. Books that floated around him then disappeared into shelves, sliding into respectful spots.

After having jumped back up, she had just reached down to pick up the object of furniture when she heard the boy's question. "Y-Yeah, I'm good." Her face was as red as a cherry. Her statement was just a little bit of a lie, the back of her head was pounding as a result of the impact. Although, she had hopes that the pain wouldn't last long and it would simply dull as time went by.

Of course, it was hard not to notice the line of books parading their way back to their respective locations. That seemed to cue her to look for her book. It wasn't very far from her feet, having landed just beneath the table. Stooping down to pick it up, Iovita let out a grumble as she had lost her page. Good thing I remember where I left off.
