HISTORY

Luke had very strong bonds with the females in his life, his little sister and his mother. He was pretty reclusive around his peers, though that wasn't his fault. In elementary school, it had started. Tiny phantoms of butterflies and beetles would appear in his sight, invisible to anyone else. He couldn't control when they came, and sometimes it became a bother. Nonetheless, he whispered to the bugs, and every now and then they'd whisper back. It shocked him at first, and most times it was a first and nothing more. They preferred to flitter around his head and crawl up his arms. He remembered it very vividly now. Soon, the bugs turned to lizards and snakes, and every now and then he'd get what appeared to be a humanoid critter with big glittery wings. Near the end of 5th grade, he'd become fascinated with reptiles, and his little baby sister had an array of fairies dancing in a mobile above her cradle. He figured that the beings he saw wgere based strongly on his mind, and they weren't random. Often times, he'd run around the playground at recess frolicking with his imaginary friends. He got called names, "crazy" was a favorite. Once, a bunch of older boys pushed him into the mud on a rainy day and hit him with sticks. They called him “Loony Luke” and swore they’d get him sent to the nuthouse. He kept to himself after that. He told his parents about these creatures, and they knew that he had a gift just as they both did. He could induce hallucinations, though, at the time, they only appeared to himself. Now, at 15, he could never produce anything with more mass than a small bunny, and he could only show them to about two other people at once. His mother promised that Beata would help him improve and perfect his gift, so he enrolled.

APPEARANCE

Lucas is tall, and lanky with awkward posture. His wavy brown hair falls around his face haphazardly, just barely covering his lively green eyes. His clothes are always neat and coordinated no matter the occasion. He prefers bright orange and red tones matched with dark greys and blacks, but he can make most outfits work. He usually wears a dreamy expression, like he’s lost in thought. He has the allure of a baby bunny, soft and sweet.

Lucas is a passive-aggressive sort of person. He has a secret talent for heavy sarcasm and enjoys joking around and light teasing. He’s not sensitive at all, years of being called names numbed him to insults. His voice is soft, slow, and smooth. Luke is a very independent person and doesn’t like playing any role but “leader.” He can, however, kindly agree to disagree. That doesn’t mean he won’t mumble about you under his breath, though. He’s a very motherly person, always doting on his friends (and you can count on him to bring snacks in his backpack for everyone!). His maternal instinct is usually the cause of an angry flare-up. He hates petty arguments and won’t engage in them, end of story. He has a soft spot for everything and is very humble.

GIFT

Lucas has a unique form of hallucination generation that is highly dependent on his imagination. Anything he dreams up can be projected into someone else’s mind as well as his own. These hallucinations are not physical and you can pass a hand through them. Once they are projected into someone’s mind, they can either act on their own accord or be controlled, but they are very difficult for Luke to suppress. Sometimes they will appear in his mind all on their own. Other people will not see these creations unless he wills them to.

HISTORY

Hunter and his older sister had the same gift. They were the greatest of companions, and their parents were happy. All was well, and they lived comfortably in their home in Quebec City. Julie was smart and intuitive, earning her a place in the Winter house. She’d write her little brother with stories of students with all sorts of powers. Hunter picked up on his beloved sister’s curiosity and picked up the hobby of collecting old video games, especially ones from early 2000s. His favorite became Pokemon Sapphire, and he would bond with Julie over the game. She was his world. When she returned from Beata, however, trouble arose.Hunter's sister got into a heated argument with her father. He refused to let her marry a man she had met in her school days. He believed her lover was obnoxious and rude. In anger, Julie turned into a huge phoenix and started a housefire that killed both her and her father. Destroyed by the loss, Hunter was devastated and began to despise his gift, wishing Julie had not had it. He resorted to self-immolation, which is mother caught him doing. Sarah Hart blamed Hunter’s late sister for the death of her husband and deemed both children menaces. She ignored and ostracized her son, only looking at him to beat him. Beata is now his escape. But, even still, he dreads the day that his brutal family history comes to light. Even now, after 3 years, he fears fire. He put together a plan to enroll in Beata secretly, only letting his mother know on the day of the flight in a note left on the countertop. He was used to masking his anger and pain in a thin layer of charm, so it was no problem when he arrived at the school.

APPEARANCE

Hunter is tall and spindly with an ever-present aura of “I’m only below you in bed sweetheart” in his eyes. He doesn’t care about his clothes that much, he’s content with sweatpants and hoodies, but he’ll usually go a bit nicer for classes and formalities. He wears blue leather fingerless gloves to stifle part of his gift most times. He likes wearing colors that make his bright hair stand out, mostly dark blue hues. He smirks with hooded eyes often, scanning a peson through and through while hiding what he’s thinking expertly. His words are coated with honey and silk, but his voice is loud, commanding, and more high than low.

Hunter is a flirty, enthusiastic goofball who loves to enjoy small things. He doesn't take BS from anyone, but is usually a sweetheart. He loves older things from the early 2000s. He knows how to have a good time. Despite all this, he has a lot of hate and fear of himself in his heart. He refuses to talk about his family in too much detail, and many aren’t even aware he had a sister. You wouldn’t know there was anything plaguing him until you push him past his boundaries. He has a lot of bad dreams and hurt in his heart, but he reserves it for only the closest of friends: if he can help it.

GIFT

Hunter's gift is the ability to transform his body into a phoenix. This is only a physical affect, so he retains human intelligence but loses basic animal instincts. Because of this, he has to figure out how to fly by himself and remember how. He can be forced out of his phoenix form by hitting his head with a blunt object, which disrupts his concentration and instantly causes him to morph back into his human form. At its peak, his bird form is a large, golden bird that is about the average height of an adult woman with fire burning at the tips of its tail and wings. This fire is harmless unless Hunter beats his wings in such a way that the fire plumes from off his body. Once it leaves his wings, it is just like regular fire.

In his human form, he can burn objects with his hands, though this is not always controlled. This can cause some laughable or horrific moments, depending on what or who he burns. He can rub his hands together to ceate tiny sparks or blazes, but not nearly as much as his phoenix can. He usually wears fireproof fingerless gloves that once belonged to his sister to keep from accidentally scorching his belongings.

Celeste is short with an hourglass figure. She had short blonde hair that sometimes is adorned with a streak of purple in front. She wears big, baggy clothes when she can and always has multiple sets of earrings in at once. She loves floral dresses and will wear the big poofy ones on the oddest occasions. She loves dangly, sparkly things and her jewelry often reflects (pun!) it. She wears soft, light colors on most days. She has contacts, but sometimes she’ll wear her big glasses that were probably only in style in the 80s among geeks. Her style is a bit odd and once in awhile it’ll fluctuate into different genres. She usually has a dreamy-spaced out look in her eyes and a shy smile. Her voice is light and birdlike. She’s a fantastic singer.
