Round 1: Jonathan Kent vs. Paige Bender

Paige shifted uncomfortable with the new temperature she was introduced to. Pools of water were practically lava as they bubbled and snapped with the heat. Steam rose around the arena and it was lit up by the distant volcano. The autumn frowned at her surroundings, both opponents would get easily worn down by their conditions so she would have to play this safely. Plans stirred in her head, it was going to be the only time her thoughts could focus clearly on tactical moves, once the match starts they are both sent out to a battle of death.

Her repeating crossbow was clutched in her hand and rested against the side of her thigh, while her karambit was secured tightly in her holster on her hip. Fabulous. They both practically had the same weapon. This battle was a matter of skill and power usage, no matter what the students had it was up to them to survive. Paige raised her hand and gave Jonathan a peace sign, "I'm Paige Bender. Good luck!"

No hard feelings? Ha! This was going to be fun, like siblings wrestling but to the death! Paige narrowed her eyes in concentration but a smirk grew across her face. Both were at a disadvantage, not knowing each other's powers, it would only be a matter of time before they found out.

Once he started to dart towards her, she secured her footing to the ground. He was eager to get close to her although he had a long range weapon. Paige raised her repeating crossbow and aimed towards Jonathan, with her mind she focused on adding weight onto him. This would make him slower and perhaps make his movements stop entirely. Paige let out a sigh when the weight didn't react with the attacker, she probably needed time to build up a mass of strength before she could weigh him down.

Paige quickly shot three arrows into his direction. Her precision was decent, but at the speed he was moving she couldn't rely on a perfect shot. Her knife was pulled out of the holster and she made her way close to a pool of water.

Paige's eyes widened as she saw he returned fire, quickly she ducked behind a rock for cover. All three of them whizzed by the top of the rock letting her give out a sigh of relief. Shock hit Paige like a slap to the face when she realized she took her eyes off of her opponent. She popped back up and ran as fast as she could to a pool of scolding hot water, she could use it as a barrier between the two. The crossbow was attached to her hip once again and the karambit was pulled out and ready for the fight.

Paige cursed at herself for being trapped behind the rock. He now had the advantage and it was his move first, it was going to be rare for her to get an opening again. Paige glanced out from behind the rock, but before she knew it another arrow was shot her way and pierced her ear. Paige let out a small yelp of pain and held onto her ear. When she brought her hand down and saw the blood a new anger boiled inside her. It was time for another attack.

She popped up from behind the rock and shot two arrows towards Jonathan, quickly she sprinted around the pool of water and tried to get as close as possible. Her hand rose and she attempted adding weight onto Jonathan once again. This time no power surged through her, in fact it felt as if nothing was there. A panicked look spread across the autumns face as she kept sprinting at her opponent. If she could get close enough, perhaps she could get a few knife wounds on him.

Paige hit the ground hard with a thud, if he wanted he could have ended it right then and there for her. Just a knife the the head and that would have been the tournament. Once her breath came back to her Jonathan had already gotten up. She pushed herself to her feet, dirt and ash covered her clothes. The quick student let out a cough and raised her knife up to protect herself. She already landed two hits on the boy, and he got very close to stabbing and eliminating her. Now she had to be on guard. Paige frowned as she realized the boy hadn't shown his power yet, from what she's noticed. "What is your power anyways?"

Waiting for his answer she pounced towards him and sliced at his arm, she missed intentionally but she was trying to push him back into the water. If someone were to fall in there legs would get burnt to hell and fighting would be a pain. If she kept her defense up she could probably push him back far enough eventually.

Paige screamed back in horror as Jonathan flung the hot water towards her. 'Oh, that's right. It's just a simulation.' The autumn stopped all movement and went silent as the water peeled away her skin, it's extreme temperatures burning every inch of her face and her upper torso. The ground was hard, steam rose from around her and burnt a hole through the back of her shirt. She closed her eyes and expected the tournament to be over. Blue eyes shot open, 'It's not over until I'm dead!' She rummaged with her hand across the ground and finally reached her knife.

Her glazed over eyes watched as Jonathan launched forward with his combat knife, she put her own knife up to her chest and waited for him to fall. His knife pierced through her chest, but she aimed her knife into his left rib cage. "Die." Was the only word she could whisper before she began coughing up blood.
