Beata was rather a stunning place, Michelle had to admit that much. Her brown eyes glimmered as she stared up at the school, her brain abuzz with data that was unreadable to her unless she used her gift. And oh, how tempting it was to do so. A swipe of her hand and she would be able to surf the data that surrounded the school but she was fully aware she wouldn't be able to handle it. Just knowing that all the data was there hurt. She sighed as she brushed her short blonde hair back the best she could while avoiding the headphones that were sitting on her head. Music blared in her ears, muting all outside noises (along with some of the buzzing in her head) and she was perfectly find with that. One hand was stuffed into her coat pocket, the other grabbing her suitcase as she started to head toward the main school building as fast as she could without looking awkward. She was hoping not to run into people, she hated talking to people. She either never knew what to say or...Well, it was mainly that. Also her phone tended to be more interesting then most of the people she met and she wondered it here would be any different.

Jake heard the Prefects talking about some newbie chick coming to Beata and wanted to check it out. The tall student walked to the entrance patiently waiting for someone, anyone to arrive. Soon enough, a car drove up and a student walked out. She was a scrawny kid, not much too her but he would have to be nice for now."Hey!" He waved to her getting up from where he sat. Jake walked iver to her, his metal leg making a clank on the cold cement.

She didn't take notice of him at first, almost walking past before spotting him. Michelle grumbled under her breath as she came to a stop, feeling that it would be rude to act like she didn't see him. But oh, how tempting it was to just have kept on walking. The hand that was in her coat pocket happened to be in the same pocket of her phone, so she pulled it out as she scrambled to turn off her music before she shoved it away as she pulled the headphones down so they rested on her neck. "Um...Hi?" she said quizzically, wondering why he was bothering to talk to her. Didn't having headphones on normally mean that they didn't want to talk? However, she quickly took notice of the clanking of his leg, her eyes widening upon seeing it. She opened her mouth to say something before she quickly closed it, realizing that commenting on it might seem a bit...Rude.

"Your the newbie, right? Uhh...Michelle Rivers?" The low voiced student said, trying to recall what her name was. He shouldn't have been snooping on the office and prefects but his curious mind didn't have the will to say no. He could tell she was surprised by his leg but it didn't bother him. "Sorry 'bout the leg darlin, it's kinda permanent." Jake said lightheartedly.

The moment he said her name, she felt herself get defensive. Her hands dropped from her headphones down to her sides, quickly curling into fists, How the hell did he know it? Michelle was rather touchy when it came to personal information - mainly because she knew how easy it was to learn things about others thank to her gift. She also wasn't fond of the 'darlin' remark, mainly because she didn't know how to react to it. "M-Maybe, but who are you?" she growled, however stammering as those words left her mouth - which was a clear sign that she was nervous and had little idea how to respond other then being very defensive.

"Jake Baxter. Technician and mechanical transformation, at your service." The tall student said with a goofy smile holding out his hand for her to shake. "Sorry if I surprised you by knowing your name. But that's what people here do when they are bored and able to hack into the security cameras." Jake finally confessed, noticing her confused and nervous look.

Michelle pouted, staring at his hand for a few moments before perking up at the mention of hacking into the security cameras. Suddenly, her eyes were alight with interest as she slowly took his hand and shook in. "You hacked into the security cameras?" she breathed, a bit surprised. She may not be good at talking at people, but with her father working in the computer field, she was fond of technology. Her gift really helped as well as she was always felt in tuned with technology...When it wasn't overwhelming her. Maybe that was why her father had taken the field he had - to be around what their gift connected with. Of course, all they could do was read the data but...It was still something.

Jake suddenly realized he probably shouldn't have told her about that and hoped a Prefect didn't hear their conversation. "Well ya, I mean it was pretty easy, if you're a techy person." He kept on smiling and raised a brow at the girl's excited tone. "And I'm assuming you are the techy type?."

Part of her wanted to try to throw on a smug grin and summon her hologram, but she knew it would be a bad idea. Creating it would be tiresome for her and she needed to be careful not to overload herself. Even just for a second or two would be bad, so she simply gave him a small smile as she nodded her head, raising one of her hands and wrapping it around speakers in a relaxed motion. "Y-Yeah," she said with a nod of her head. "I've always had a...Connection with technology." She supposed she could just talk about her gift seeing how everyone here had one but...It seemed weird. She was so used to hiding it, she didn't really want to admit it. She was also not used to talking to people so it would be really, really weird to mention it. Sure, she could carry a conventions if she needed to but really, she was the kind of person that would sit in the corner and be on her phone during a party. Social things just weren't her type of things. But tech? That was something she loved.

He could tell she was hesitating and wondered why. "You know there's no need to feel discouraged about your power." He said softly. Jake wasn't used to being "kind" to others but he wasn't a total douche either. "For example..." He gave a grin and held out his arm in front of him transformerobotnoisescoolanimatedmoviewoowoo. Within a few seconds, Jake's flesh and blood arm transformed into a mechanical arm. He thought about what to turn it into next, with more rattles and clanks his arm was a walking tool box. Some knives, screws, hammers were at the boys disposal and if you listened closely, one could hear the sound of "cogs" running throughout the mechanical appendage. "This is how I hacked the system and I can do way more."

It wasn't like that at all. Michelle glared at Jake, frowning as she tighten her grip on her headphones. She wasn't discouraged about her powers - she loved it. Being able to read the data that most people weren't even aware of was amazing. Besides, she was sure she would be able to play games with it if she was skilled enough cause all she would need to do is find the data for the game. She just wasn't fond of talking to other people about her powers. She opened her mouth, almost ready to say something like that when he held out his arm.

Her voice quickly died before even leaving her throat, her eyes widening as she took a step back in alarm as his arm went from flesh to metal in a second. Her eyes shifted from his arm to his leg, then back up - now wondering if his leg was simply stuck as metal or if it really just was a metal limb. As Jake started to shift through what else he could turn into, Michelle attempted to recover from the shock. However as she attempted to calm herself down, she became aware of the buzzing of the data becoming louder. That wasn't good.

Ever since her gift had first manifested she had an issue of it appearing in moments of shock, fear...Even excitement. It was a simple tick of hers, something her father had warned her to be careful about but something to accept - it would go away as she gained more control but as she had so little control she would activate it without even meaning to. And so, a small blue screen appeared in front of her, transpire but dull until it flared to life. In a second, all the data that had been buzzing in her head was suddenly understandable as the screen started to sort through it. Her head flashed with pain as she quickly lashed out with one of her hands, swatting the hologram.

In response to her hand movement, the hologram quickly faded out of existent - along with the energy that created it even for that short amount of time - as the noise in her head went back to a steady hum. She stumbled, but manged to keep her balance as she shook her head to remove the tiredness that overtook her for a few moments before frowning at Jake for a few moments. "That's...Cool...I guess...But how about a better warning next time?" she mumbled, messing with her headphones as her gaze drifted down to the ground between the two of them. She had no idea how long it would take her to seeing other people's gift...But she was sure it was going to take a while.

Jake's arm turned back to normal at the girl's comment. "Sorry, got a bit carried away." He said rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "Well...Uh, Welcome to Beata!" He said lightheartedly wondering what to do now.

Michelle's gaze remained on the ground for a few seconds before she sighed loudly. "I should get go check in," she muttered in a quick tone, not sure what else to say. She really, really didn't like talking to people. It almost always became awkward at some point... She grabbed her suitcase and pushed her way past Jake, heading toward the doors to the school as she messed with her headphones with her free hand. Michelle wasn't sure if he would try to follow her to apologize or something, and she didn't really care.

Please don't leave me. He wanted to cry out like a lost puppy. Yeah, he barely knew this girl, but he couldn't help feel so alone when she wasn't near him. Was it that they both had a connection with technology? Could it have been her power? Jake had no idea but didn't want this feeling to end so soon. "Mind if I help ya checking in? Sometimes coming to a new school can be confusing and it doesn't look like any Prefects are coming to help you soon." He gave a smile.

Michelle came to a stop when Jake spoke up, her eyes falling down to her feet. She didn't need his help - she didn't exactly want the help. She wanted to be left alone, and besides, it couldn't be that hard to find the office but...She had a feeling that he wasn't going to leave her alone otherwise. So, she turned to face him with a sigh. "You know what...Sure, you can help me," she said, wondering if she was going to regret this.
