Working on Gifts [Open]

Matthew headed down into the forest, carrying his small bag in his right hand. Once he had found a satisfactory place, he smoothed out a small area and sat down. He opened the bag and pulled out two metal balls, one for each hand. Instead of grasping them tightly. He let them sit in his open palms. He got into a pose similar to meditation, and closed his eyes and began to concentrate on his ability. It started very slowly, but it seemed that the metal balls were melting in his hands, covering them, but the balls did not change in size or shape. Then, getting faster, the metal had covered both of his hands and were slowly working their way up to his wrists. Beads of sweat began forming on his forehead and neck. His eyes were closed tightly and his face was in complete concentration. He was in such a deep concentration that he couldn't hear anyone walk up to him.

Matthew was clueless to the boy when he noticed the metal began to shrink back to the ball. Did he lose concentration? What was going on? He closed his hands tightly around the metal balls and concentrated harder. The metals' retreats slowed but did not stop.

The way Aspen practiced her abilities was through working-out; building endurance, stamina and strength. The blonde's face gleamed with sweat and she wore her normal work-out clothing, the autumn had blinked when she caught sight of her pal Jonathan who had worked at the same place as her. Smiling the autumn had began running towards him unable too notice the other winter dude that was in such a concentration that his veins were about to pop. "Jonathan hey!" Aspen had said with a grin waving her hand towards him as she stopped next too him. The blonde blinked when she noticed Matthew, and what Jonathan was trying too do. Nudging him in the shoulder the blonde frowned her eyebrows furrowing. She wasn't sure what the winter was trying too do but it was awfully suspicious too her. "Jonathan what are you doinnnng!! Quit staring at him ya freak!" Aspen had cried out half-joking as she tugged on his shirt. "Seriously what are you doing."

Matthew's powers suddenly came surging back and went higher up on his arm than they ever had. He smiled, and then let the metals slip back into the balls. He stuffed them back into his bag and sat there, exhausted. He wasn't sure what had caused his gift to malfunction but he didn't worry about it too much. It must've been a slip in my concentration, he told himself.

Jonathan was rather a confusing dude he was charming for sure but he had this awkwardness that made everyone uncomfortable Aspen had first felt it when she first met Jonathan at the Cafe where Lamia had worked as well. The blonde smiled when he suddeny called her name from confusion and shock but blinked at the winter. "What are you doing over here? If your so interested why dont you go talk to him!" The autumn was convinced that Jonathan was debating whether or not to go talk to that kid who was focusing on his power. "Nope." The autumn had said sith a pleased smile before she looked over towards Matthew. "Hey kid!"

Matthew opened his eyes and turned to see a girl and a boy with a bird flying around him. He slipped the metal balls back into his bag and he stood up, dusting himself off. "Hey. What are you two doing here?" he asked, still slightly confused on what happened to his gift.

Aspen had grabbed Jonathans wrist pratically dragging him out as she gave Matthew a friendly wave. "Oh nothing! We were just observing your gift its so interesting!" Aspen had said letting go of Jonathan as she skipped over towards Matthew her violet eyes peering with interest. "What is it? Can you do it again please!" They were all so sudden demands and Aspen had felt bad for asking them so quickly. The blonde had smiled slightly as she mentioned her name. "Im Aspen by the way!"

Matthew relaxed a little. "I'm Matthew. And sure. I can show you my gift." he said, somewhat stiffly. He grabbed a metal ball from his bag and closed his hand around it. He closed his eyes and began to concentrate. Because he was only concentrating on one hand, the metal spread quicker than before, and higher up on his arm, nearly half way up his forearm. He open his eyes and gave a strained smile. He walked over to a tree slowly, still maintaining concentration, and swung his arm at a tree. It smacked the trunk and tore a large chunk out of the log. After that, he let his concentration slip and the metal quickly dissipate. He then opened his hand to show that the metal ball had not changed shape or size.
