Beautiful Star [ O P E N ]

Not a single misty, gray cloud blanketed the night sky that night, the moon shining brightly above as it washed the rooftop with its chilly warmth and shimmering rays of white. The endless stretch of pitch black spanned far over the normally blue surface, the only thing that made it soothing were the tiny points of light they called stars. There was something calming about the darkness - something warm and soothing as it sang solemnly its melody that could never be heard when the sun rises. Her hand reached up just a bit to grasp at the little, flickering gleams, closing her fingers in as though they were in her hands.

A distant smile tugged at her lips as Lamia stood there on the roof, simply watching the stars with an ethereal look in her eyes as she clung onto the wired metal fence from the other side. She didn't dare look down - she'd probably get dizzy and loose her balance. That did not stop her from moving a leg out, letting it dangle as she tried to keep her limited footing.

The dark-haired Winter was pretty sure that she'd get into trouble if she got caught out late this night. But, with the Summer Solstice arriving soon as time burned away, the stars got prettier with each passing day and Lamia had the urge to go once the sun fell to the abyss, not to come back until the moon surrenders its spot in the sky.

"Beautiful stars... Summer... good for stargazing," she muttered to herself, a dainty light to her voice, glad not to stutter when she was absolutely alone without anyone alone. Or so she thought.

It was a beautiful night. The stars just started too rise. Colors, black and blue  stained the darkened sky and chased away the days bright sunlight, and in replacement had brought chilling howling winds that rung in Aspens ears. The wind brought to her the taste of rain, but she always enjoyed a little sprinkle - after all you can't have a rainbow without a little rain. She never imagined that she could see the sky so beautifully up on the rooftop.. This school was just full of surprises - good surprises - pleasant ones. A small smile curved onto the blondes features, her light purple eyes twinkled lightly along with the golden stars that desperately clung to the night's sky, and it looked like that she was glowing in the moon's rays, it was just a very beautiful night. There wasn't even a single cloud that was in the sky, there was nothing - nothing at all. Only the moon and the stars, the beautiful beautiful stars.

Aspen never enjoyed the darkness, she feared the dark for a long time. She would always hide behind her mother when the Sun would leave the sky. The blonde gently scoffed at herself, now that she thought about it, it was so silly. How could somebody be afraid of a gorgeous sight like this one? A gentle smile formed onto Aspens features her purple eyes sticked onto the sky, she could watch the stars sparkle all night long.

Although it was getting a little too late for the intitate, and school was only getting tougher for her. She needed to go back to bed she also wouldn't want to get caught. Aspen was a distance away from Lamia it was too dark too spot her. Starting too walk off, the blonde halted at the sound of a voice a bit surprised Aspen slowly turned her head too see a girl hanging from the other side of the fencing.

The intiate gently blinked, slowly walking over. It was hard too tell who it was but one thing was for sure. They were both strangers in the night, but she also seemed to be stargazing just like her. Aspen didn't want too startle her since she was on the other side of the fence it'd be easy to fall off. "Hi" Aspen had spoke her voice barely above a whisper and a bright smile on her face.

A soft undertone traveled its way into her ears, barely caught or heard, but it was there. At first, the Winter ignored it - it was simply her imagination flickering about like a fish out of water. Yet, there were eyes that bore into the back of her head, content on watching her as though she were the most interesting thing on the roof or she had been caught. There was barely any room to turn around and look, her golden drops of amber still held up into the sky with an unearthly look in them. Should she answer back? Lamia did not really know, and the only thing she could focus on was the painted empyrean filled with the hundreds of lights that shone back on the empty, still roof.

Her aloof smile clung onto her lips, tugging the edges of her mouth into a tiny, upward curve like the reflective crescent moon on the azure water's calm surfaces in the forest's clearing. Perhaps she was imagining things, but her mind kept telling her to answer back, and so she did with an airy tone, "Hi..." Her voice was clipped ever-so-slightly, and she wasn't stuttering... yet. Perhaps she was just trying her luck to hope it was not a teacher who caught her, but at the same time, why could she care? The night was perfect and the divine sights above were the only thing she could care about as it could be the only time to see something like this in awhile.

Golden, honey-brown eyes glanced back slightly towards the corners of its shape, but all she could make out was the dark figure of a shadow - nothing more. Perhaps she was blocking the moonlight from showing who it was? Two strangers in the night, indeed.

For a bit the other person was completely silent, nothing but the sound of the howling wind and the beautiful music that the crickets had made - music.. Aspen always enjoyed music, but she never noticed the kind of music nature had made. She never knew that it could sound so beautiful, she didn't even know that crickets could even create music it was a bit surprising. Maybe she didn't hear her - maybe she should just leave, but Aspen had no friends, she had too make some friends she was becoming lonely. The only person that she truly met was Magic and they didn't talk very often in the first place.

Aspen placed her hands on the rusty old fencing, her purple eyes gazing up onto the blinking starlight. Still nothing but slience, but she blinked when she had spoked up. It was barely hearable but she heard something - she was sure about it. A small smile formed on the blondes features, Aspen had figured that this girl was a bit shy, she just had a gut feeling about it. Though that didn't matter much, she didn't care if they were shy or loud it's their heart that mattered - nothing else, nothing more.

Although she didn't want the conversation to keep on going like this, just sitting in silence, it's time she started asking some questions." My name is Aspen" The blonde had told her, even though Lamia couldn't see her face she wore a soft and kind expression and her voice sounded wispy as it was carried out by the wind. "This night is so beautiful, don't you agree? Just look at the stars." Aspen had said with a melodic tone, her smile turning bigger as her gaze returned towards the sky and the natures music rang in her eyes.

Oh, there actually was someone around. The voice made her freeze, and her heart was pounding louder than a drum.

Somebody was here. Somebody had discovered her and she was going to get in trouble. I'm so screwed... Of course. Of course someone had to be out tonight! Lamia was probably going to scream in frustration, but instead chewed on the bottom of her lip, hoping that the intruder would fail to notice her. Pretend she wasn't there. Or something along those lines. What had caused her to be found? Was it her voice from before? Her soft breathing? Or the metal screeching together as she tightened them in an attempt to stay on the stony, gray ledge? Whatever the case was, she was now cornered like a mouse that was overconfident in its abilities to escape with a cat ready to pounce on it like the delicious prey it was supposed to be. Her student record could be tarnished black, and her entire fate was on the shoulders of a stranger.

Lamia was scarcely daring to breathe, just in case the other person heard. It would only take a noise or sudden movement to have her spot completely uncovered, the blanket of darkness unable to hide her. Yet, the conversation took a turn instead. The stranger, she could hardly make out their features except for the amethyst purple eyes and a few strands of disheveled blonde hair now that they had stepped closer, but it was not someone she knew. Her voice was like a cadence in a staccato beat as the other person spoke, and was soft like gentle winds.

She glanced at the side for a moment, searching for something for comfort. Anything. But there wasn't something to assure her that she wouldn't be screwed.

With a quiet sigh, she conceded, and though it was a gamble, maybe...

"I-I'm... Lamia," her stomach lurching as she dreaded the moment, knowing full well that just her name, and she could get herself in trouble. She kept her eyes staring at the pretty night sky, feeling a relieving wave of comfort. The darkness was truly soothing, wasn't it? A small feverish nod escaped her head's movement as she responded under her breath, "Y-yeah... Th-they are."

Well at least one thing was for sure.

They weren't exactly two strangers in the night anymore. Aspen blinked, her purple gaze looked troubled. It was strange one moment Lamia wasn't stuttering and the next minute she seemed to have a problem with it. Maybe she had anxiety issues. The blonde herself could relate, she had many issues as a middle schooler, long ago Aspen just didn't know how to be socially accepted, but that didn't matter now. The blonde had learned that it doesn't matter who accepts you but they need to accept you for who you are, end of story. Although she didn't exactly know Lamia's entire story, she didn't know her difficult and frustrating times, it made her a bit worried even though she didn't exactly know Lamia it was the kindness held in Aspens heart that made her worry.

"Nice to meet you Lamia." Aspen had said her gaze drifting up onto the stars again, she just couldn't keep her eyes off them the stars, the moon. It was all so beautiful it was a bit intimidating, how could anything compete with such beauty as the dark night? The blonde looked over towards Lamia again, she was a bit concerned she'd fall off, better do something before somebody dies. "Hey do you mind coming to the other side? Don't wanna witness something horrible on a beautiful night."

Oh. Crap.

Right... I'm on the other side of the fence... the dark-haired Winter thought, cursing herself for not recalling how she managed to get there. Dread took root in her stomach as she found her eyes glancing down and spotting the imposing, stony floor that seemed just ripe for death. With a bit of terror, she found herself unable to move, and her fingers gripped the metal wires of the fence tightly, sending her into a brief lull before she heard the voice - Aspen - speak again. She was chewing the insides of her mouth, almost hoping to draw blood as a surge of adrenaline prepared her for a flight-or-fight, and somehow, flight seemed to be the option. And there was nowhere to fly to. Pondering on it for a few moments, she had no choice for the time-being.

At this point, Lamia was hardly surprised about her actions. She did many crazy things and had thought about drinking a few times, but she was slightly glad she never resorted to such things. Another moment of peace had to be shattered, however, just when she was looking for it. It was a dislike of hers, always being the one stuck on the bad end of fortune, and that was the only thing certain in her mind. Some higher power decided to mock her, being satirical in all of her days. Resigned, she blinked and looked back up at the stars, wishing she it was the ceiling of her dorms. At least then, it would mean less trouble for her.

"I-I c-can't..." She finally responded, her cheeks tinted a rosy red whether out of embarrassment or shame or being slightly dizzy, she didn't know. Lamia found herself lifting one hand up to twirl a soft lock of dark hair with a slender, pallid finger, and her thoughts drifted back to a few months ago. Stop thinking about that, idiot. It's over now... All of that is over. she scolded herself mentally.

Since they were stuck together, at least she might try and find some pointless thing to talk about...

This situation was dangerous, Aspen was a new student she was hardly here for a week. Though the worst part was that they were left masked completely in the dark, if something bad were to happen there would be nobody to help them or too save them. Blinking Aspen had felt nervous, glancing towards her hands seeing that Lamia had tightened her grip on the bars, maybe she'd made a mistake of asking her to come over the distance from the ground only seemed to make Lamia more nervous.

"Here don't worry Lamia I'll help you." Aspen spoke calmly, trying not to make her worry. If she used her clones, maybe they'd be able to help in some way as well. Might as well try everything to get her over here safely. Aspen slightly bit her lip her gaze flickering nervously. "Do you trust me?" The blonde had asked hoping that Lamia would, she didn't want the girl to become injured.

Life was like a lottery, buying a ticket and scratching it with the rusty penny in your hand, hoping you struck gold, only to be disappointed with the failures and trying again in another roulette.

She wasn't sure what to do, and her hands were trembling, beads of sweat forming at her forehead, threatening to drop. One drop. The ground. Two drops. Aspen. Three drops. The ceiling. Four drops. The stars. One drop is the ground, two drops is Aspen, three drops is the ceiling, and four drops is the stars. At first, she could barely process what the other girl had said, her mind in a disarray within a broken, beat up computer's hard drive, but when she had, a small squeak escaped her as the opportune door of chance creaked open. Taking a deep breath, she held it in nervously, almost forgetting how to breath even as Lamia minutely nodded, a weak smile gracing her features as her hands felt as though they were slipping away. God, please no. No, freaking no. I am not dying like this... I am not dying like this... Her mouth voiced the words filling her thoughts in an almost incomprehensible string of mumbles, "G-god, pl-please d-don't k-k-kill me..."

Why did everything she do have to involve relying on someone else? You're just a burden to everyone around you. Just a troublesome runt that could be thrown away. You're slowing everyone down because you can't freaking keep up.

The disappointments of life were great, sometimes your feelings were up and other times they were up. Your emotions were such a mess it was annoying. Aspen glanced around, the situation was dire but she needed to stay calm.. yes just stay calm Aspen.. just stay calm. with a shaky breath Aspen nodded she needed to help Lamia she couldn't just leave her here. The blonde could feel it herself, the air was so intense that she was sweating as well. She never had felt such fear for such a long time, she lived as a free-spirit without no worries but this time was slightly different.

"Right don't worry Lamia, you'll be ok." Aspen said her gaze focusing on the fencing. Blinking at its height,how did she even get up there..? Shaking herself out of her thoughts, five different forms had appeared next to Aspen. [color=#9999cc]My clones would surely be able to help me in this situation. The replicas have stacked onto each other building a human sort of latter. It was difficult to tell which one was the real Aspen, but it was actually the one that was ontop of each clone. Reaching her hand down over towards Lamia she bit her lip. "graaab my haaaaaand" The blonde strained, the only way this was gonna work is if Lamia could stop being afraid and could trust her.

This was a hell of a freaking ordeal, all just to see the stars, but she wanted to escape reality again, and this was the only way out. Everything seemed to be blurring, minimizing and maximizing, and she was gripped with a new fever of panic. It was absolute madness, colors mutilating themselves into black and white until they faded away completely and into a blank canvas. Sounds, whatever they were, seemed to muted out like a speaker that was dialed to zero.

Her free hand gripped the cloth at her chest, and her eyes were darting back and forth, as she was half petrified and half wanting to simply jump and forget about what life was. She was acting stupid enough without having to die first, and... this was the stupidest life or death situation that she put herself into voluntarily. Palms were filled with far too much sweat, and she knew she never looked completely normal or relaxed, but this had to be worst in some way. Lamia muttered a few things under her breath, cursing herself as she felt herself gradually grow dizzier, and her throat went completely dry that choked every word she tried to produce and made her even more quiet. Snap the fuck out of it, she scolded herself, shaking her head. Stupidstupidstupidstupidstupid...

She couldn't see the hand that was supposedly reaching down to her, but with one hand still gripping the fence, she reached up, searching for it until she touched something that felt like flesh. Lamia then stretched a little further up before getting a full grasp, and letting go of her balance, allowing the other student to freely pull her up without resistance.

"S-s-s-sor-ry-ry..."

Days so cold and warm.. What kind of day was this? The night surprised you, somedays it would be completely dark but other days the light flickered through out the darkness. Aspen didn't know what drew her out to gaze at the stars maybe it was too meet Lamia, or maybe it was for a different reason that didn't deal with Lamia at all. She strained forward trying to get her hand closer towards Lamia, trying inch by inch to get her too safety, she wouldn't let her die here. No way, such a stupid way too die - death by accident is the worst death at all. The blonde gulped, Lamia didn't move at all Aspen didn't even know if Lamia noticed her hand.

Aspen wanted to scream, shout or anything to catch her attention. But you couldn't scare anyone that was on the edge of life and death. "L-L-La-Mia.. C-come on g-grab it." Aspen had strained, afraid that the dark haired girl wouldn't be able to reach her hand. It took Aspen by surprise when Lamia grabbed it so suddenly, it almost had shocked her. She was even surprised by her grip, she never would have thought that somebody small like this was so strong. It was probably the situation that driven her, if it was her in this situation she would do the same.

Slowly pulling her up from harms way, Aspen carefully let Lamia down. Breathing heavily, maybe she didn't handle the situation the right way. If she would have thought it through then there was probably an easier way to do this. With a sigh Aspen scratched her head glancing over towards Lamia, her light purple eyes filled with concern. The blonde thought that she had heard something but she wasn't exactly sure what. Forcing a smile on her face Aspen had spoke up.

"I think you were a little close to the edge there." The blonde chuckled trying to make a joke of it too lighten up the mood, her head turned too see that the clones of herself had all dispersed, though that didn't bother the blonde. "How are you feeling Lamia? Wanna sit somewhere?"

So funny. Ahaha... Damn, don't make a joke out of a life or death situation. It was really stupid how easily reminded she was of past experiences from such a simple phrase, and became anxious over every single little thing. After all, it was just a stupid joke, and a breathy, jittery giggle escaped her throat's trap - almost soundless -, as sweet and melodic as a bell, but she felt bitter inside and for a few moments, she was even contemplating on killing the other girl or messing with her a bit just to screw with her. Didn't Aspen know that talking about death so lightly made other people feel insecure in all sorts of way? Lamia simply sunk on the bench where they were at now, as though she were trying to melt and blend with the steel, but she froze for a few moments.

She tried to say something, but the words would not leave the thick honey net they were in, trapped like moths in a glue trap. It was a sudden thought, and her mouth moved to say something, but her words were so silent that she was pretty sure they might've not been heard by the other girl. "H-have you e-ever w-wondered wh-why n-night and d-day exised...?" The moment the words managed to leave, she quickly brought her hand up to cover it, surprised that she had something so suddenly that was completely off-topic. Great... right when I didn't want to seem like a lunatic too...

OOC;; Sorry for lame post, I'm posting as fast as I can at school.

Aspen couldn't help but have a strange feeling in her gut. Though the autumn simply ignored it and shrugged it off as it she was imagining the feeling, but something did seem off about Lamia, something strange. As if the girl was surrounded in a bad vibe. The blonde didn't mind it although, she didn't care but it was a bit weird being around people with strange vibes. The autumn smiled sweetly as Lamia laughed softly, good thing she was feeling better right? Well hopefully she was. The autumn couldn't help but stare at Lamia as she sulked down. Her purple eyes slightly narrowed confusion filling them, what was wrong now?

The silence was a bit difficult for Aspen, her friends would often call her obnoxious and over self-confident but it was just her personality, if they had a problem with it they weren't her true friends. The blonde cocked her head her eyebrows raising it seemed like Lamia was saying something, but she wasn't really sure what. Although she did hear part of it, causing the Autumn too blink in surprisement.

It was a bit of a strange question.. How would she answer it. She never did think about the days or nights, she didn't care about them. But why was there a day or night? That was indeed a good question, the autumn stuffed her hands in her pockets glancing towards the night sky and then towards Lamia. Her soft smile growing, the winter was cute, she seemed like a silent clueless type of girl. "Not really." She answered the question simply, smiling towards her. "But I always wondered why I existed sometimes."

"I-I'm s-sorry...! Th-that was a st-stupid question."

Lamia simply shook her head, knowing full well that she wasn't prepared for whatever situation that she had brought upon herself. It was just all smiles, pretending to be alright or okay or whatever. Why would people worry about her when her death would be a pleasant benefit for the rest of the world - another problem disappearing? She simply returned Aspen's smile squeamishly, unconsciously bringing her hand to adjust the scarf around her neck as a soft billow appeared from her mouth. The Winter racked at her brain for any possibilities of the situation getting any worse, and the best scenarios came to her head, but she wasn't stumped. Her face hinted up a bit with red and she almost felt dizzy again, her vision blurred ever so slightly.

Her hands came up to her cheeks in a small pat, as she told herself, Get it together. Stop being so... stupid. As soon as she realized how strange she might have seemed, she quickly found herself rubbing her hands together, half in an attempt to get a bit warmer and the other half to distract herself from any weird glances or words the other student might've been shooting at her, like a bullet that could travel around the world thrice. Guilt aside, she found it nice that someone was willing to talk to her and get to know her or help her a bit.

... Actually, no. She didn't like it. Always troubling others or asking for help or unable to do anything. With a small sigh, Lamia cursed under her breath as her eyes found themselves staring down at the ground, her feet, anything but another person.

This is pathetic...
