A young blonde boy around the age thirteen sat in the far corner if the library. He sat 'criss-cross-applesause' on the ground, with a rather large looking book floating in front of him. His big blue eyes narrowed as he read though the familiar book.

Actually...Every book was familiar to him. If he held the book in his hand, he could recall what word is writing on a random page in a random chapter. Word for word. He could even recall a book that he'd encountered before if he wanted to. And if he tried really hard, he could even remember a book from long ago. (Yet, it still has yet to happen, much to Chip's distaste.)

Anyways, the boy worked diligently, exercising his power, and even animating the stories he read. At the moment, he was reading a story, Beauty and the Beast. He'd known about this one since he was a small child It'd been one of his favorite stories because of how the heroine of the story loved to read. Not everyone did, and it had always bothered him. Books were the greatest, how could someone not like books?!

He pulled out a paragraph from the book with a quick movement of his hands, the words jumbled up to make a moving picture. The princess from the story, talking about her favorite part of the Cinderella story.

He then pulled another section out of the book, the part where Gaston, the Antagonist of the story convinces the town that the Beast is band and must be murdered before he 'eats' the children. The words again, formed the figures. A large birly man rode a horse, a broad sword held up high as it galloped around. A large mob of villagers with their pitch forks, torches, and horses followed after Gaston. They only stopped when the tiny word figures crashed into a pair of legs, fading away.

In another section of the library, Jacob was perusing through the true crime section, running a finger across the various spines until it stopped on one, and the young man pulled it out to take a look at the back. Shaking his head, he returned it back to its place and repeated this action twice more until he was satisfied with taking Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi and Curt Gentry, tucking it under his arm, and heading for another part of the library. Walking down into a farther section, though, he came across a curious sight.

In front of him was a person, that much was certain. However, the facial features of this person were heavily obscured by a big tome, though this wasn't the curious sight. No, the curious sight was that the book was airborne, unassisted by human hands or other apparatus. This particular book was just floating there, as if levitated above the ground. Too curious now to just walk away, Jacob abandoned his quest for a second book and moved towards the seemingly-magical book, getting close enough to see that whoever this person was, they were blonde-haired. "Hello," he said in a friendly tone, making sure to keep his voice down because, well, it's a library. Hopefully whoever this was wouldn't be too perturbed at him disturbing their reading. "That's cool what you're doing with that book. You can levitate objects, then?"

Chip froze at an older boy's voice. With his concentration gone, the book dropped to the ground with a loud thump. The thirteen year old flinched and glanced up at Jacob. He grinned sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. "Uh, no. I can only make books float..." His blue eyes traveled from the other student's face to the book tucked under Jacob's arm. Curious, Chip tilted his head and made an attempt at the book's title. "Helter Skelter?" He guessed, looking back up at the older student for conformation.

The loud thump of the book hitting the ground gave Jacob a bit of a start, as he hadn't been expecting it, plus the sound was a bit magnified due to the quiet nature of where they were. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to break your concentration. That's still pretty cool though." At the boy's words correctly guessing the title of his book, the brown-haired boy pulled the book from under his arm and showed it off. "Hey, good guess. Have you read this before?" He wondered why the boy was sitting so far away from others, but perhaps he had just wanted some peace and quiet… which Jacob may have inadvertently interrupted. Whoops.

"Nah, I just guessed." Chip looked down at his big book, which was laying open, face down on the ground. Slightly worried for the pages, he flipped it over to it's back, surveying the damage. A few pages where bent at the corners, but it wasn't something that keeping the book shut couldn't fix. He then flattened the pages to where when the book closed, they wouldn't fold back over again. Chip heaved the heavy book into his lap, then looked up at the student.

"Oh! Uh..." He stammered, shifting the book on his lap before continuing. "By the way, my name is Chip."  His sheepish smile morphed into a big grin, showing how excited he was to introduce himself to a fellow student. Who knew? Perhaps this guy could be is friend?

"Well, it was a very good guess!" He laughed softly, shifting the book back under his arm and watching the boy pick back up his own back and seem to smooth some creased pages before shutting it back up. Hopefully the book wasn't too damaged. Jacob still felt a bit responsible, since his appearance was what made the boy drop the book and all.

Well, they were exchanging names, though. That was a big plus. "Nice to meet you, Chip. I'm Jacob." Would a handshake be appropriate? They weren't exactly on the same plane, with Chip being seated and himself standing and all that. Still, what was the harm? That big grin showcased friendliness, after all, so he risked it and stuck his hand out for the aforementioned handshake. Maybe it wouldn't be so hard to make friends here after all. Going on a week here, he was successfully making friends and not angering anyone. That was a plus in his book. Heh, book, library. No. No. God, no.

It was kinda awkward at how far he had to stretch his arm to reach the older boy, Jacob, but he was able to manage. Drawing his hands back behind his head in a lounging manner, he looked up at Jacob with a curious face. "So, do you need help finding a book? I'm pretty good at finding that kind of stuff."

The book shot into the air, hovering there while the small boy rose to his feet, stretching his arms out wide, closed his eyes shut and opened his mouth in a huge yawn. His back let out a few cracks because of his length of time sitting in the same position. He opened one eye towards Jacob, before continuing. "Name the Genre, Author, or title I can find it."

The boy relaxed before adding quickly, "That is, if it's in the library."

Even though he had already seen it once before, Jacob was still impressed when the young boy stood up and the book floated with him, hanging in the air with no strings attached. Maybe making books floats wasn't exactly the best power, but it was still quite interesting, just like every power the young man had encountered so far at this school. "Hmm… Well, I guess I could use one more book…" Tapping his chin with a finger, Jacob tried to think of a book he could tell Chip to search for. It would be rather cool to see how that worked.

"Okay, uhm, how about Jack the Ripper: The Final Solution by Stephen Knight?" It was the first book to come to his mind, but he hadn't noticed it while going through the shelves.

"Jack the Ripper: The Final Solution..." Chip repeated, his voice was void of any tone or emotion. His thoughts were immediately re-directed to a Wiki page on the internet. With effort, Chip moved his thoughts along, but attempted to limit his search activity to the Library. Blue eyes narrowed, his mind centered on the book. The book in question had been stored in the wrong shelf, with the science books for some odd reason. Cheering, "I found it!" Chip then made a squinty face, as if concentrating. His small hands squeezed into a fist.

All of a sudden, an object came out of nowhere, then... THUNK The book they were searching for, slammed into Chip, knocking the small boy over with the mere force of the book. As Chip landed on his back, the two floating books dropped to the ground, thankfully, they didn't drop open, or the pages would be bent.

The boy glared at the offending book. He usually liked books, but this one...he had a hatred for now. Apparently the book wanted to hit him. Yeah! It was the book's fault. He could totally control this part of his power. It was all the book's fault. All of it.

Eyes widened in surprise, Jacob bent down a bit and offered his hand to the fallen boy. "Oh wow, are you okay?" he asked with concern, his eyes flitting to the book that had fell to the ground. It was the exact book he had been looking for, and somehow Chip had found it. Not only that, he had somehow gotten it over here, though perhaps a bit more forceful than intended. "How did you do that?" He was clearly impressed by Chip's power of teleporting books.

With a resigning sigh, Chip rubbed the spot where the book hit. He could feel a headache coming on. "Uh, I guess I concentrated?" The boy mumbled, not knowing how to explain his power to others, he always felt like he'd give them the wrong idea. Especially the part where he could 'read' other people's diaries, journals, or notes. (Not willingly, he always looks into what the person in front of him has wrote in their life time) That often gets them angry. Chip rose to his feet, then rubbed his eyes with the heels of his hands.

With Chip back on his feet, Jacob nodded at the vague explanation he was given. It wasn't really that helpful, but maybe it was just something that couldn't be explained, which was fine too. Bending down to pick up the book, he tucked that one under his arm as well and offered his hand once more for a final shake. "Well, thank you for finding me that book. I really appreciate it. I should get back to my room, though. Hopefully I'll see you around sometime."

Chip smiled at the other boy and shook his hand. And this was when he realized how small he was compared to other students. In fact, he was tiny. Pitiful. 'Why can't I grow a little bit moreeeeeeee?' He mentally whined to himself, biting his tongue before he could continue whining out loud.

"Y-yeah. See ya." Chip spun on his heel, and turned to his book that had fallen when he had been hit in the head. Seeing that it landed safely, the small boy picked up the large book half his size. Staggering slightly under the weight, he shifted it so that it was easier to carry. He doubted it that he'd be able to make it float. Not with the incoming headache he won't.
