Round 2: Kennedy / Hall vs. Mallon / Bryson

Will looked around at the junkyard surrounding the two teams. It looked as if it had been inhabited, like some sort of post-apocalyptic future world. He thought of Mad Max when he saw it. He looked at his opponents and saw one of the daycare workers, Mikaela, with a newer student that he didn't recognize. He looked over to Kota, surprised at how well she was doing. He was proud in a way, that she had survived longer than he had last round.

On the other team, Mikaela noticed Will as well. She had seen him constantly at the daycare with his son, Stephen, who was absolutely adorable. She liked how good of a father he was learning to be. After last round's victory, she was feeling pretty confident in herself and her partner, despite still not really knowing the extent of Caine's full power. She looked around and took in the scenery of the junkyard city, noting that she could probably use this to her advantage somehow.

The red-head twisted her head around, looking over the many buildings and - eh... rustic scenery? She shifted around uneasily, looking their opponents over and biting down on her lip. Dakota had never wanted to win the way she did, Arianne's face still sketched clearly in her mind when... Euughh.

She grimaced, pulling herself closer to Will and wrapping her arm around his. "Guess it's my time to die first now?" she joked, her humor about as dry as the land around them.

"Let's do this." Caine said, rolling his shoulders. He shot Mikaela a white, toothy grin. After the first win, the summer was confident. He had no idea the powers of those they were about to face. However, after having shifted on several occasions, Caine was ready.

Caine wasted no time in rushing forwards. Out of wolf form, even if not as deadly, he was far more confident. His hand to hand combat was not bad at all. Besides, he could always rely on his slightly enhanced agility and strength to give him some sort of edge. A grin settled on his mouth; it was a bit of arrogance that came along with his ego, but also a response to Dakota's comment. He has no idea what her power was, yet it still stuck him as funny. Hopefully, she would be a quick win. Unless the boy was just underestimating his opponent.

As soon as he was in close enough range, Caine's right foot darted out to aim a blow at the back of the girl's knees. He always preferred a girl on their knees, it was easier that way. If it weren't for the serious challenge that came along with winning, he would have laughed out loud. But, his parents would expect him to win, that was the priority. At the same moment his leg went out, his hand wrapped around the handle of the beautiful silver dagger that rested at his side. The blade was aimed straight for her throat. There would be no restraint this time. Caine spoke as he attacked, "That's the hope, sweetheart."

Caine's move was predictable at best so Will moved Dakota backwards, out of reach. Will took the blow without movement and it fueled his gift enough to push back at the boy with the hand not being used to protect Kota. "Get back you wannabe fuckboy," he told him, smirking. He wasn't gonna let himself get killed by a dagger this time. Hopefully.

She'd managed to stay composed for the most part, up until the moment the match started. She expected nothing but fair, honest fighting. While she didn't know about this Caine person, she did know Kaela. She was Leo's un-official girlfriend. (And although the two of them were nothing to notice to most eyes, it was all but obvious to her.) So while she assumed the opposing girl would be civil, she expected the same out of her partner. But Lord, how wrong she was. "W-What?!" Her face burned bright red. Who the heck did he have on their knees? Certainly not her. And who was he calling Sweetheart!?

He moved fast. Even if she saw it coming, she'd been so caught off guard that she hadn't the time to move. With a sharp tug, she caught herself from falling back, Will moving in quick at the corner of her eye. In she rush, she thought she'd felt her heart skip a beat. "You -" The Spring regained her footing, slipping out a dagger of her own and throwing herself back forward. Her knee shot into the air, aiming to dig a swift jab between his legs - while Will still had him and he was still vulnerable. "YOU PERVERT!"

Mikaela hesitated in her movements as she saw her opponents. She knew both of them from the fact that they both had kids. It was her business to know all the kids and their parents. Especially Dakota's, since her child was her nephew. Despite the fact that this was all a simulation, she was still hesitant on doing anything. So, she went with her fallback move, which was to cause the ground to shake beneath them, although this quake was very small to begin with. She didn't want to waste all of her energy quite yet.

Oh god no, not the balls. He didn't want to be all sore just in case the opportunity arose. But it was too late, Kota knew what he was doing. The combination of Willkota had done him in. Pain shot through Caine's lower region and he fell back to the ground. Her kick felt impossibly strong, sterilizing strong. Tears welled up at the very corners of his eyes. They would never fall. Waves of anger and frustration overcame him right before he blacked out.

Dakota had found his one true weakness.

Oh, wow. That actually worked.

Dakota stared with wide, green eyes as their opponent crumpled straight to the ground, completely blacked out. At first, it was hard to believe, and she shared an uncertain glance at the blonde beside her. "You didn't hear it," she murmured, a blush coming to her cheeks. "He had some really, really nasty thoughts." She took a sharp step back, fiddling around with the blade in her hand and almost forgetting that there was another there up until the ground beneath her feet had shook.

The red-head whipped around, her legs turning to jelly as buildings came crumbling apart around them. She grit her teeth, dropping low and catching herself with one arm, the other sending her sleek dagger flying straight at Kaela. Nothing personal, of course.

"Nice hit," he said as the ground shook beneath them. He noticed the buildings around them beginning to collapse, but thankfully they were a safe distance away. And then he watched as the girl spun a dagger at the opponent left standing. Hopefully it would work, because he wasn't sure what the plan was.

Mikaela wasn't surprised to see her partner fall so easily. He talked a big talk but he had difficulty walking the walk. She saw the dagger coming from a mile away as well, so she used her gift and sent a blast of vibrations at the dagger, causing it to almost reverse its path, skewing off towards the side. Then she sent another blast at her two opponents. She wanted to see what the full extent of their capabilities were.

A plan. Yeah. That was funny. Like she totally had one. Dakota stared forward with slit eyes, her weapon crashing uselessly to the ground as another wave shook through the air. It may not have cut through her like knife, or burned away at her skin, but it left her feeling weak and with the slight urge to hurl - and Kaela was just toying with them. "I think this is your time to shine," She laughed weakly to Will. The Spring slippednout another blade, pushing herself off the ground and making a run for the girl, posted to swipe the blade at her arm.

Will felt queasy as the wave passed through them. He still wasn't sure what they should do when Kota spoke up, charging at their opponent. A sinking feeling hit his chest as he realized what she was doing. "Kota don't!" he said, starting to charge after her.

Mikaela noticed Kota sprinting towards her and sighed. She knew what she had to do, but it didn't make it any easier to do it to someone she knew. The Summer let the girl approach her until she was in arm's reach, then she unleashed a vibration-infused punch towards Dakota's midsection.

Maybe she'd got too excited and acted too rashly. Her partner had died charging off the match before. She didn't want to leave him alone again to that fate. Maybe she thought she could just end this quick. After all, she could read Kaela like a book. What was there that she couldn't see coming? For some reason, soon as she heard Will shout from behind her, it was as if her mind had reached a total blank. One moment, she was poised with her knife in hand, and the next - the other girl's fist was coming straight towards her. She could feel the air around her itself shake before it even touched her. With a shriek, the Spring tried to side-step away, but she wasn't fast enough.

Dakota hardly felt a thing. She was shocked, frozen where she stood, Kaela's hand slicked straight through - piercing her stomach. "D-Damn," she gasped quietly, green eyes wide as red began to stain away at her shirt, trickling down her lips. "That was stu- auhh-..." She lost her breath all too quick, crumpling to the ground.
