Spiraling Downward [Open] Empty
PostSubject: Spiraling Downward [Open]   Spiraling Downward [Open] EmptyWed Dec 28, 2016 9:29 pm

Everything was numb. No matter how hard she tried, she could not bring herself to feel anymore. Her facial expression matched how she felt. Aside from her raw, puffy, red eyes, the rest of her was like stone, staring out of the window of her dorm room looking through the scene spread before her. Her eyes focused on nothing. She thought about nothing. Larissa had barely moved from her spot in the dorm, only getting out of bed to sit and stare out of the window, and when she tired of that, she moved back to her bed. She hadn't been in class for weeks, barely even changing her clothes or making any attempts at improving her hygiene. It was too difficult. Almost everything she did reminded her of Sam.

There was no use crying over him now. Since his death that she had watched unfold before her eyes, she had cried all of the tears she could. It made her sick so many times that she had lost count by now. She hated this God forsaken school, but for some reason, she was still here. She was told to try to stick it out for the rest of the school year with promises that it would get better, that things would change. Instead, she just found herself rotting away in her room barely eating or even taking care of herself. Heck, she barely even know how Daniel was handling this, but deep down, she was hoping that he was taking it the same way. Even as she heard a door open, she didn't move from her place, her gaze piercing the outside world as her mind pulled itself inward, pushing out everything around her.

Spiraling Downward [Open] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Spiraling Downward [Open]   Spiraling Downward [Open] EmptyTue Jan 03, 2017 3:53 pm

Walking down the Summer dorm hallway, Jax kept an eye out for the room he was looking for. Needing to work on an assignment with someone from his math class, they'd given him their room number but unfortunately they'd written it in a rush. From the note that he'd received, the hand writing wasn't quite clear but the last number looked somewhat like an 8. Or wait, was it supposed to be a three? Maybe a six?

Confused, the silver haired student kept walking down the hallway, glancing at each of the numbered doors until he arrived at room 306, the door propped open. Hm, why would someone leave it open? It wasn't his business to pry, but anyone would've been curious and he was just that.

Opening the door with caution, Jax shoved the piece of paper in his pocket and glanced around the room. No one seemed to be home, well, except for the figure in a room. He probably wouldn't have seen the girl except for the fact that the door was cracked open. She didn't look like she was doing anything that she wouldn't want anyone seeing and not being afraid to ask directions, he decided to see if she could help.

"Hey! I was wondering if-" reaching the door and peeking his head into the room, the Summer stopped in his tracks when the girl's face was visibly lined with tears. Geez, this was awkward. Good going. Interrupting someone's emotional moment, he thought to himself angrily, knowing he should've knocked before he'd just walked in.

"Uh, I'm sorry. I should've asked before I came in," he added softly, hoping this girl didn't have some sort of power in which she could obliterate him off the face of the earth for possibly intruding.

It was only when she heard a voice did Larissa finally turn around. Her heart leaped weakly in her chest as she figured that it was Danny but when she caught a glimpse of an unfamiliar face, she froze. Normally, this kind of thing would have stressed her out and made her all skittish, especially when the boy didn't even live in her dorm, but now, she simply stared at him for a moment before realizing how much of a mess she was-- crazy, unkempt hair, red puffy cheeks and eyes to match, she couldn't even imagine what her breath smelled like. The problem was that she couldn't bring herself to care. Instead, she wiped her face using the long sleeve of her shirt as she continued to watch the boy for a minute.

"No-" she paused in her speech to clear her throat of God knows what was in it. "No, it's fine..." she muttered. She hadn't seen the boy around before. Maybe he was moving in? They did have an empty room, after all. "Are.. Are you the one taking over the empty room here? I'm sorry I'm such a mess..." But no matter how she talked, she couldn't muster up any kind of emotion in her voice depicting her actual apology. All of it was just a bunch of empty words and it was pretty obvious.

PostSubject: Re: Spiraling Downward [Open]   Spiraling Downward [Open] EmptyTue Jan 10, 2017 11:08 am

Although Jax was someone of the caring sorts, he'd never seen someone so... out of it. Looking down to his shoes for a few moments, he thought about what to say, not wanting to word something wrong so that it sounded offensive or something along those lines.

"I actually already moved in a week or two ago and was on my way to find someone," he replied, though he doubted she really cared. What ever she was so bent out of shape about must have been pretty serious, whether it be a breakup, a death of some sort, the possibilities were endless. But no matter what it was, maybe she just needed someone to talk to? Well, he hoped that was the case or else things were gonna get really awkward.

"But I'm in no rush," he started again with an understanding smile, rubbing the back of his neck as he stood at the room's entrance. "I know we just met, but do you want to talk about... what you're going through? I'm a good listener, I promise." It wasn't like Jax was going to find who he was looking for anyway and having walked in on whatever this was, he might was well stay and support the girl, well, if she accepted his offer. It just wasn't in his nature to leave someone in the middle of a crisis, and sometimes, all people needed was someone to talk to, whether they like it or not.

The offer was rather shocking. Blinking at the boy, Larissa tried to think of what to do or even say at this point. She felt awkward trying to talk about her personal issues with something she barely knew, but the urge to talk about it was too strong. "O-Oh, okay..." she muttered with a sniff as she continued to try to clean off her face. "Um... thank you." Turning around so that she could face him, she couldn't help but look at the floor. "It's... It's not really much, I guess. I'm just.. having a hard time dealing with a loss in the family is all." As she began to speak, she found herself choking up as tears stung her eyes again. Originally, she thought she was all out of water but here they were. Gritting her teeth, she tried to stop them but it was no use. They spilled over and down into her sleeve as she tried to cover them up.

Spiraling Downward [Open] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Spiraling Downward [Open]   Spiraling Downward [Open] EmptyWed Jan 18, 2017 9:13 pm

Making his way over to the empty part of the couch, Jax sat down, looking to the girl, ready to listen.

Not really much? What did she mean, it's not really much? Not only was losing a loved one extremely hard, but seeing the state she was in, what ever had happened wasn't something that this girl was going to just shrug off, no matter how much she tried to hide it through her tear stricken cheeks.

"I am so sorry for your loss," the silver haired student said softly. Although he had no clue as to who she'd lost, he couldn't imagine losing Axel. If his brother were gone, it would've been as if half of him was gone, and he would never be able to think straight again.

Looking from the girl to his lap, the Summer took a few moments to think about what to say. Attempting to assist someone grieving always came with the possibility of quickly backfiring and he wanted to make sure he said the right thing. After a little bit of silence, Jax looked back to the girl, a soft smile on his pale face. "Would you like to talk about... what happened?" he asked, silently praying he'd said the right thing. Sometimes, all people needed to do was talk about their lost loved one in order to possibly feel a bit better, and other times... they didn't want to say anything at all.

In the end, it didn't really matter to him. If she wanted to talk then good for her, and he was all ears. If not, he'd respect her wishes.

Suddenly, she paused, watching the boy as he walked in and sat down, actually looking like he cared. It was such a weird feeling since the rest of the school barely noticed or recognized what had happened. Sure, there were some side effects she could see, but it was almost like the school had been through stuff like this before. "W-Well, actually..." She stopped for a moment, trying to decide if she actually wanted to talk to this guy or not. It was something that was really personal and she was sure that it would scare him off, but honestly, maybe that wasn't such a bad thing. She hated this place. "I'm... I'm not really sure how to go about telling what happened.. My brother... he passed away several months ago. I-I mean, he wasn't the best brother, but he was my brother anyway. He was killed, actually..." The longer Larissa spoke, the softer her voice got and the more broken it became until more tears spilled from her eyes. Wiping them away quickly, she tried her hardest to keep herself together but it simply wasn't working.

PostSubject: Re: Spiraling Downward [Open]   Spiraling Downward [Open] EmptyTue Feb 07, 2017 3:03 pm

Oh, she lost a brother? Just the thought of losing a sibling made Jax want to tear up, him being the mushy-gushy type. What he would without Axel... he had no idea. Well, he'd probably somehow go down the wrong path. Although him and Axel were somewhat like yin and yang, almost opposites, they each needed each other more than they thought that they did, even if they tried to deny it.

Staying quiet, Jax was deep in thought, making sure that he understood the situation correctly. She'd lost her brother, he apparently wasn't the best of siblings, but she loved him non the less. What in the world was he supposed to say to that? Usually, he did a decent job when it came to comforting people, but this... he'd never had to comfort someone who'd lost someone of such importance.

"I, uh," he started, looking up from his lap and to the girl. "Well, I bet he was still a great guy, I wish I could've met him," the silver haired student added with a smile. I wonder what he was like.

For some reason, that put a small, somewhat unamused smile on her face. The chuckle that followed felt empty but she couldn't help but laugh for a moment. Someone actually wanted to meet her brother. She should have figured. People wanted to meet Sam all the time but once they got to know him, usually that would change. He certainly wasn't the nicest brother by any means, but she knew that he would never have done what he did that day on purpose. He was a trouble maker, sure. A killer? Not a chance. "He was... He was a good guy when he wanted to be," she replied, fresh tears stinging her eyes before she wiped them away quickly with her sleeve. She needed to stay strong, but why was it so hard to do so? "Problem was that normally, he didn't want to be. He was selfish, rude, irresponsible, and... just a meanie, but he looked out for me. Even though he and Daniel didn't get along, they... they dealt with each other just for me." A few sniffles later and a breath that got stuck in her throat, fresh tears rolled down her cheeks, staining her pants as they landed. "He... He killed people..." Larissa finally whispered, however it came out more as a whimper as she tried to keep what was left of her composure."He hurt so many. But it wasn't his fault! I know it wasn't! They said it was some... crazy drug! Someone made him do it! I just... I can't believe he did it!" As she spoke, Larissa's voice began to escalate, turning shrill and barely audible by the time she was done. Instantly, she crumbled, bringing her knees into her chest and burying her face, sobbing uncontrolably. It felt as if she had just ripped open a fresh wound and there was nothing to stop the bleeding.

Spiraling Downward [Open] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Spiraling Downward [Open]   Spiraling Downward [Open] EmptyTue Mar 07, 2017 10:57 am

Listening to the girl as he sat beside her on the bed, Jax realized that didn't know how to respond. What she'd just told him seemed to be pretty serious, and most people probably would've freaked out when they heard about some girl's brother who murdered people, but when she said something about a crazy drug, it got him thinking. If an outside source had made him kill, then it technically wasn't his fault, especially if he had no control over his actions, and maybe this whole ordeal wasn't as horrific as it looked. But even so, it didn't change the fact that her brother was still dead.

Looking down to Larissa, seeing someone so bent out a shape like this tugged at his heart, and when she started sobbing again, it made him want to cry with her (him being the mushy gushy type).

Trying to hold back the random wave of tears, the Summer gently placed a hand on her quivering back and swallowed the lump in his throat. "If it was drugs that caused him to do what he did, then maybe he didn't have a choice," he started, and once the words were out, he realized that what he said and stating the obvious wasn't going to help anything. "Geez, how do I put this," he mumbled quietly to himself, and after a few moments of thinking about it, continued. "Grief never ends, but it changes. It's a passage, not a place to stay. It's not a sign of weakness nor a lack of faith, but the price of love, and although the world is full of suffering, it's also full of overcoming it. You and your brother, though having your differences were still siblings, and just because he is gone from this world doesn't mean that he's truly gone," Jax continued, involuntarily spewing out his honest and genuine thoughts left and right.

"Being a believer in fortunes and misfortunes, I've learned that fate doesn't ask us what we want, but it knows what's best, even if we don't. Maybe him losing his life to this... tragedy was supposed to happen. I mean, all things in our lives happen for a reason, and maybe this loss was meant to be. While we'll never truly understand the ways of the universe, we just need to keep going and look for the silver linings in life," the silver haired student finished softly and took a deep breath as he retracted his hand from where it had been resting on his back. Oh God, he probably sounded like a munk rambling on like that. Well, at least he'd attempted to help her. That's what really mattered, right?
