Perhaps she was fretting too much. Well, not perhaps, she was definitely fretting to much. The girl couldn't seem to sit still. When she wasn't playing around with her hair - which she'd spent forever brushing, she was flipping listlessly through the menu; and when she wasn't doing that, she was staring out the open window, watching all the people wall by, admiring all the students who walked by chattering, but at the same time twitched around her toes, completely ready to duck and cover if she happened to see the young man she was waiting for walk on by up to the building.

Of course, there was nothing tomorrow. It wasn't like they were on a date or anything. That would be stupid, to ask someone out you'd just met like that... She wasn't crazy or anything. And she knew it too, she could tell what had crossed her mind when he'd said yes, except... She'd spent a good deal of time picking out one of her cutest outfits and trying to make sure her make-up was right, not wanting it to seem like to much or it was too plain either and she wasn't doing it for him she just wanted to make a good impression when she invited him on a quiet evening dinner in this warm cozy place with couples hanging out every where and - !!

She clapped her hands quietly against her cheeks. "There's nothing to worry about," she muttered sternly, quietly reminding herself. They'd get some coffee, eat some cake, chat a little, and then go home as friends. That was it. It wasn't as if she'd never spent time alone with a guy before... but then why did she still feel so nervous?

While Dakota was freaking out over this get together, Magic wasn't. He just thought it was some simple hang out day, making a new friend. Nothing to freak out over. So he just wore some casual clothes, which was a pair of lighter jeans and a t-shirt with some design on it. Due to the weather though he didn't wear his usual jacket which meant his arms were shown off a little bit more. He wished he could have worn it but it was just too hot for something like that.

Magic gave off a sigh as he walked in the town. There were far too many noises, but he promised he would be there. His hands were shoved into his pant's pockets as he walked along the side walk trying to block out the noises and get to the cafe. Once he got inside it would be a little better but for now he was stuck hearing the noises of people chatting and kids playing. He really felt like an eavesdropper. Pushing the noises aside he continued on his way to the cafe.

As soon as he reached the building he hurried inside. Breathing a sigh of relief as the sounds were muffled slightly. Well it was a bit better, more tolerable in his opinion. He could deal with this for a while, but anything longer than an hour and a half it would be bad. He looked up, and his gray green eyes looked around for the familiar person that he was supposed to be meeting here. He spotted her sitting at a booth next to a window. Walking over to her, he greeted her. "Hey." He said and then sat down across from her.

Dakota had finished readjusting the forks on the napkin for the fifth time once she finally tore her gaze away from the window. She tried her best to keep her thoughts preoccupied, admiring the way the light poured in from the window, casting a light evening shadow onto the sleek glass cups and the leaving the sweetest gleam on the delicate silverware. There was a couple behind her that grabbed away at her attention, their thoughts so sappy it was simply sickening. It served to reinforce her mindset. Once Magic arrived, she'd act totally casual, and would never catch herself like some crushing little puppy.

'That would be just stupid,' she thought to herself. After all, she barely even knew the guy. The Spring huffed to herself, leaning against the table and resting her chin on the palm of her hand. Despite as much as she wanted, she couldn't block and of the cheesy neighbors thoughts out of her head, but she was blessed that she could hear Magic's irritable thoughts the moment he entered the rule. Dakota sat up, letting out a quiet, almost nervous laugh - even though he hadn't quite seen her yet.

Once he'd finally noticed her, she'd shot her warm green eyes towards the window again, her hands moving to flatten her skirt. "Hey," she answered, taking in a small breath and flicking her gaze back towards him. "... Nice shirt." It was the first thing to say that came to mind, and she realized how soon she was awkwardly stumbling on her words. "I'm glad you showed up. Most people would be think it's weird to have coffee with someone you just met."

"Well most people here don't know we just met, so that fact doesn't really concern me." Even if most people did he still wouldn't care too much. He was just here to have a nice time with a new friend, and maybe get a little more used to the sounds Rosebury makes. "And I'm glad you are here too or else I wouldn't be here." He finally had something to focus on to keep him distracted from all the noises. "Also you look pretty nice yourself." Giving her a compliment back for her t-shirt compliment even though it was just a shirt he had for a while.

The red-head's gaze softened at his words, seemingly relieved. She knew he had said it wasn't a big deal before, but it was nice to be reassured. So long as he didn't think it was weird at all, there was no reason to linger on it any more. "It's nice to hear that," Dakota mused, leaning back in her seat and casting a short glance down the cafe aisle, pondering when the waitress would notice them. "Thinking back, I should have picked somewhere quieter though. I couldn't think of anywhere else they'd have coffee." She was still new-ish, after all.

Despite that she knew he was simply being polite, she still felt her cheeks warming. "Thanks," The Spring said simply, masking her embarrassment with a smug smile. "I look nice everyday, but I went the extra mile today..." Dakota paused, suddenly worried he might get the wrong idea, again. "I mean, it's not every day you get to come out on the town like this." Or was that a common thing here after all?

"At least not for me anyways," Kota murmured under her breath. She'd rarely been able to leave her house for fun before she'd come to the school, but it's not like there were many people here to tell you no.

Magic shrugged. He didn't really go into rosebury often so he didn't know if there any place quieter. "As far as I know this is really the only place to get coffee, unless you make it yourself." Even if they had made it themselves back at the school it still might have been a it noisy with the other dorm people around.

"I suppose that is true." Though being a guy it was different for him, then again he honestly went out whenever he wanted to back in Chicago. Being out in chicago was better than being at home in his opinion. Anything was better then dealing with his mother. Though he guessed from what she had said she didn't get the chance, that she was most likely trapped in whatever kind of home she had, or she just chose not to go out.

A small frown sat on Magic's face though it was kind of hard to tell that it was slightly outside of his normal expression. He wanted to comment on her saying that she couldn't go out that much, but he didn't know exactly what to say without assuming the wrong thing, or sounding a bit selfish. At the most he supposed he could offer some encouragment or something. "Well you get to go out whenever you want now. At least as much as your mind can handle."

"That's nice, even if it's surprising." The young woman mused, glancing at the waitress again as she walked by, seemingly finally having noticed them. Hopefully, they wouldn't have to have wait too long for their food. She hadn't had much of an appetite for breakfast. "It's strange being here. It's like a whole different world," Dakota was just thinking aloud, but maybe it was another thing he could relate to. "There's nothing but mom and pop shops here... I guess it's peaceful, but..." It would take some getting used to, she supposed.

Despite how idiotic it probably was, she loved the idea of being able to roam free where she liked, even if it was in a small, backwoods town like Rosebury. He had been smart enough to pick up on that it seemed. It was kinda funny, and pretty embarrassing to her, that she'd forgotten he could pick up on the quietest things she said. She might have found that annoying if that didn't make her a hypocrite. She had an open door to his every passing thought, of Chicago, and his mother, whatever he meant by all that. If anything, it made her feel guilty.

So, she kept on talking, at the risk of boring him by going on too much about her self. She felt the strange need to keep things "fair" between them. "I never was allowed to leave the house unless I was with someone," Kota said simply, keeping her voice light as if she thought it no big deal. "Like, my parents, or whatever. They always would rather have me working." Studying, lessons, all the like. It was a wonder how the school convinced them to let them leave at all. "Now I have so much free time I don't know what to do with it. It's why I looked to you for help. You look like the expert on fun." Her tone was teasing.

Magic was well aware of her being able to read his mind. There wasn't really a point in trying to hide his thoughts, seeing how he kind of had to think to have a conversation with her. "I understand the difference. Coming from a big city like chicago to a small place like this? The first impression I got was how quiet it was. I honestly didn't know what to do with so few sounds." He said with a small smile at the memory.

The winter listened as she said she was never allowed to leave the house. His mother tried something like that a few times, but it never worked out. His small smile from a moment ago turned into a frown. He figured he should go ahead and say it since she was going to read his mind anyway, so either way she was going to figure it out. Though he didn't have much of an issue with it anymore. "Yeah my mom tried something like that." The winter closed his eyes for a moment and rubbed the back of his head, before looking at the girl again. "Well something slightly like it.. She would lock me in my room after an argument between us, and would attempt to leave me there for a while, but I would break out because I couldn't really take being trapped." His mom would attempt to do this basically after any argument which was a lot of the time.

"But I never had the issue of not knowing what to do.. I always had a lot of free time back then and even now." He blinked at her teasing. "Hey, I know how to have fun. In fact I'm an expert on a certain type of fun, but I can't do that fun while here because most of the people know me." He knew that she would be hearing his thoughts after that type of statement, but he refused to go into detail after that statement to see if she would want to know.

Dakota found herself blinking in surprise, perhaps it was because how openly he was speaking or just the entire idea of the situation he had been for a good deal of his life. Or maybe it was both? The talk the two of them were having would have left most people feeling awkward from the heaviness, but she didn't feel strange in the least. Maybe it was his calm, matter-of-factly demeanor that eased her worried and left her feeling all the more curious.

"That's awful," she said simply with a small frown. "My parents never did anything quite like that... They'd sit me down in the study room for hours, take my things, withhold dinner..." Her voice had turned bitter towards her own memories, but she finally let out a tense sigh. It wasn't like there was much she could do about it now. "Must have been nice to escape." The only people she knew were those she'd went to church with, and she was never allowed to be social with anyone else at school. She hadn't the slightest clue where she could have went if she'd ever left.

Her smile reappeared once the subject changed up it's pace again, admiring his determination to keep things a surprise on her behalf. It wasn't an easy thing to block out your own train of thought. "Oh? Sounds exciting." Kota mused, a mischievous interest taking her. "What certain type of fun is that?"

Magic didn't understand how people, how parents could be so cruel to their children. He understood that some parents just wanted their kids to do well in school and what not, but didn't go about it the right way. Then there were parents like Magic's mom. She was just an awful person in general, if she had hated him that much she could just have put him up for adoption, but she didn't instead she dealt with him for some reason to which he didn't understand. However that was a subject for another time.

A smile grew on his face as he had caught her interest with how he had fun most of the time back in Chicago, though he wasn't to sure if he wanted to tell her just yet. Eh why not. "Well I don't know if you would find it fun, but I certainly did. Back in Chicago me and a friend of mine would go out to places and intentionally cause trouble until we were either kicked out or had to leave." He did it a lot when he was younger, it was fun. Especially to see people scramble after them trying to catch them. Though they wouldn't ever cause physical damage to anyone or anything. It was a good time for him though he wasn't too sure how Dakota would react to his fun, seeing how she was sheltered for a good part of her life.

Truth be told, she didn't quite understand how her parents minds worked either. Even as she had the power to read their minds, there was so much she felt like she didn't know about them. Their thoughts were chaotic, like they were in a constant state of turmoil and denial that she simply couldn't quite rap her head around. As much as it confused her, she had given up on trying to read them long ago. She had kept her head down for years and did her best to do what she was told, tried not to think about her gift, and just stay sane. That was the best she felt she could do.

The way he spoke so brightly though of his rebellion and the trouble he and his friend caused, it may not have been the most appropriate type of enjoyment exactly, but it caught her attention all the same. It was foreign to her, but oh-so tempting. "My, my. I never took you for the delinquent type, Magic." The Spring mused, leaning against her hand. She was unable to resist her smile. "I may find it fun, I've never tried before. You might have to take the lead and show me how it goes down." The red-head felt a slight chill and paused, hearing an old, familiar song play on the radio; of beaches and sweaters and... 'fun' things.

The winter shrugged. "There is always something surprising about people." Though he still had a few more surprises than most. "Well if we ever go to Chicago some time then I will certainly show you how." It might be fun if they ever went sometime, but the winter didn't really plan to go back anytime soon. Right now he preferred how quiet it was here, it wasn't tough on the ears like Chicago was to him now. It would be a bit different if he was still used to the city's noises.

When Dakota had paused the winter did too. He could easily hear the song playing. It was one of the better songs from that time. His eyes looked away from the girl as he listened to the song for a moment. He remembered it not making much since until it got to the 'fun' times part of the song where the sing mentioned touching the other's person neck. It was a bit strange, but it was also catchy. Very very catchy. When the song got to the part of no shirt, and no blouse, his mind flashed to certain thoughts before quickly switching back to normal. "Hmm.. this song is old.. I wonder why they are playing it.." Maybe this place just liked playing the older music.

Dakota's smiled softened, letting herself get carried away with thoughts of him and her, of mischief and the huge city of Chicago. Truth be told, she supposed she didn't live a few hours away from the large city - granted across state lines, but she couldn't have said she'd ever been there. A few choices memories of his flashed in her mind, giving her quick, blurry glimpses of his old home. That was enough to keep her satisfied for the moment. "I'll remember that. I think I'd like to see the trouble-some side of you." The waitress had come by with a small tray of treats and a steaming pot of coffee, set between them.

She gave a silent nod to the woman as thanks and threw her attention back to the song. In truth, Kota thought it tactless to play such an old hit in a quaint little cafe, but maybe that's what made it seem so amazing all the same. She chuckled under her breath, a bit of pink dusting her cheeks once again. The Spring found her tapping her foot along. Magic wasn't wrong, it was really catchy, but once a few more lyrics popped up - and once she'd caught onto where his mind had went - she was suddenly flustered. "N-Not really appropriate, is it?" The red-head frowned and laughed again a bit more nervously.

And then she paused, another curious thought coming to her, but it wasn't exactly the most appropriate thing. But then, he didn't really mind what they talked about, did they? He'd certainly proven that so far. "The stuff in this song, is that fun for you too?" She mused, posing it as a small joke.

Magic froze as soon as she mentioned the song inappropriate. He could feel his checks getting a little hot, but he tried to keep himself from blushing. She might not have noticed his thoughts.. though she probably did. He just wanted to deny it. He could tell her laugh was nervous which meant she did see them. God he was an idiot... He shouldn't have let his mind wonder to those things. He gave off a small laugh with her and reached to get a cup of coffee for himself.

After filling the cup, he took a drink even with it black. He didn't really care about the bitterness, he was just glad for the extra energy. Maybe they could ignore the song now and continue on with there nice conversation they were having before. Her next question surprised him, he nearly choked on his coffee, but he didn't. "A-ah... Well.." He honestly didn't know how to answer that question. He wasn't a virgin, but when those times happened it was a while ago, and he had sort of pushed it to the back of his mind because it didn't really matter.

There had to be some lines drawn somewhere, she supposed, admittedly a bit surprised at his own shock. Dakota had honestly expected it to be dismissed like the stupid little question it was, but instead she was near getting choked up instead. (He couldn't hide it, she'd picked up on his own noticed hesitation.) Whilst she couldn't help but share in his embarrassment, she couldn't stop her laugh either. "I'm - I - I shouldn't have asked..." She said through the giggles, trying to get a hold of herself.

For a few moments, the young woman tried to distract her self, stirring cream and sugar into her coffee, but she couldn't wipe the idiotic smile off her face. It really was stupid how amusing she found the whole thing. "I didn't think anything phased you," she admitted once she could finally speak coolly again. "You're the only guy I've met who would save a girl out the window and not blink." Her rescuer, she thought lightly. Kota blew the steam off her drink and took a small sip, shooting him a wink. "Is this your one weakness? Don't worry, I'm good at keeping secrets."
