If I Could Hold Time in a Bottle [closed] Empty
PostSubject: If I Could Hold Time in a Bottle [closed]   If I Could Hold Time in a Bottle [closed] EmptyTue Jul 05, 2016 8:27 pm

The sounds of soft guitar chords of Led Zeppelin's The Rain Song - fitting, considering the steady deluge - rang out in the empty space of the lounge. It would have been totally deserted if not for a lone brunet, sitting by the window while the water droplets battered the glass rhythmically from the outside.

It was strange to be playing on this guitar.. This new, sleek, state-of-the art Gibson Les Paul. The company was an old one, it's origins dating back nearly one hundred years, but it was brand-spanking new. It wasn't Anthony's worn-down, '57 piece of junk that he'd fallen somewhat in love with throughout his young years. He'd never played another guitar aside from it, and now, as he sat here playing this strange new guitar,  in this strange new building, in this strange new world, the nostalgia associated with that hand-me-down instrument was threatening to choke him.

Half way through the chorus of the song, the chords slowed down gradually until they stopped altogether. Anthony rolled his head back onto the backboard of the sofa to stare blankly up at the ceiling, mindlessly dropping his pick onto the cushion beside him.

Bobby McIsaac. John Dennings. Jessica Belwood. Sandra Barnett. Martin Barnett. They were names that had been repeating in his head like a mantra for three days.

He would never see any of them again, he reckoned. If they weren't dead already, they could be half-way across the world, for all Anthony knew. Seventy years was a pretty long time, and besides.. Even if they weren't all six feet underground, he would never be able to wade through the mess of modern technology to find them, and who's to say they would even recognise Anthony at all? Seven and-a-half decades would not be kind on the memory, the young man imagined.

Jess, the sweet red-head that he'd been in love with for nearly the entire span of elementary school, had probably married a wealthy young fellow. She certainly had the looks to draw them in. No one could escape the enigmatic pull of those deep green eyes, or the sweep of that fiery red hair. He imagined the arms of another man around her slim waist, and a glittering diamond ring - worth more than all the money Anthony had ever made - around her finger, and the memories of that stupid, music-smitten troublemaker, who had yearned to be with her from the fifth grade all the way into high school, slowly fading out of her mind to make room for new love and a hundred other new feelings.

A mirthless, toothy smile crept across Anthony's face, followed by a dry chuckle. How he'd gotten to this place - this time - didn't matter to Anthony. Magic, bad luck, the cruel will of some dictatorial god.. Whatever. He was beyond questioning 'how', because he was here, right now, and he wouldn't ever be back. It was the 'why' that he was trying to figure out.

"Welcome to 2036, you fucking loser.." he muttered to himself, smile ever-present as his eyes fluttered shut.

Chris was strolling around when he passed by the lounge. He heard a guitar strumming coming from inside. Taking a peek, he cracked open the door and saw Anthony, the boy who he had led to the infirmary awhile ago. He went in and coughed loudly, so Anthony would know that he was here. "Seems like you know your way around a guitar." he said, shrugging. He didn't know how to play a guitar, but he did know how to play the trumpet, although that didn't really compare to Anthony. Guitars were infinitely cooler than trumpets.

If I Could Hold Time in a Bottle [closed] Empty
PostSubject: Re: If I Could Hold Time in a Bottle [closed]   If I Could Hold Time in a Bottle [closed] EmptyFri Jul 29, 2016 4:47 pm

It had been bugging her for days. Three days, to be exact.

The initial wave hit Kyou like a ton of bricks. She was familiar with the sensation, and no idiot to its origins. But she was startled by the sudden impact of it. Where did it come from? She was sure no one in Beata or Rosebury had those capabilities. At least until now.

Her sensitivity to shifts in time had never been a gift. Even when it came from herself, she was struck with a bought of nausea that would almost always stay for at least a few hours, sometimes days at a time. Three days prior she felt that familiar sting in her stomach, followed by that terrible rumbling and grumbling. On several occasions she almost brought back up her last meal. It was beginning to drift away, but until she found the source of this shift, it wouldn't fully disappear.

Unfortunately for her, pinpointing the source was harder than it looked. The girl had scoured the academy and surrounding town, asking every person she could if they knew anyone who could have messed with time in such a monumental way. Yet no one had seen or heard of anything besides students Kyou already knew of. She met with them to double check, but of course they weren't the problem.

Running around campus was taking its toll on the Autumn. Exhausted and stress, she headed towards the lounge for some well deserved rest. As she opened the door, the sound of classic rock flooded her ears and startled her. A guitar strummed along, filling the room with soft tunes and nostalgic memories. Curious about the guitar's masterful player, she stepped inside and turn the corner. As soon as her eyes caught the sight of the dark-haired boy, her nausea subsided completely and her mind clicked the pieces together.

His hair was the size of Texas, his clothes looked like something someone's great grandpa wore back in his hay-day, and the music he chose to play was beyond ancient at this point. That, coupled with his rather strange remark made it all too easy for Kyou to understand the situation.

Storming up to him with arms crossed, she gave Anthony a stern look. "So you're the mess that's been giving my a stomach ache for the past three days." She was about to continue when she saw a white-haired boy looking like he knew who the strange boy was. She loosened her form a bit and nodded to him. It felt odd, scolding a stranger, especially in front of another complete stranger. Clearing her through, she took a step back and let her arms fall beside her. "What are your names? And you," she began, pointing at Anthony, "Wher- No, when are you from?"

Anthony's head didn't move when Chris entered the room, but he looked over for a second as the younger boy came into his line of sight before staring back up at the ceiling. Sure, he'd met Chris already, but he was still a stranger to Anthony - a child of a vastly different time and place. His head was filled with history that Anthony would not have even lived to see, had he not been booted forcefully into the future. He dressed strangely. His slang was alien to Anthony. The gadgets and gizmos in his pockets were beyond anything any child born in 1963 could have ever dreamt up. There was a very obvious disconnect between everyone in 2036 and Anthony - a vast chasm of technology, events, names, music, and countless other things.

"Dad taught me." Anthony hoisted himself up into a sitting position, instrument settled on one knee. He stayed quiet for a good long while, chewing on the inside of his cheek. He had no idea how people casually greeted each other now, so he didn't bother trying. "It's funny. I've been playing guitar since I was six years old, and since then I've only touched two guitars - My old one, and this one." He looked out into the downpour that was pelting the grass outside. "Old one's lost, of course. I wouldn't be playing this if it wasn't. I can't help but wonder what happened to that damn thing, though. Did it rot? Did somebody break it? Is somebody else playing it now, even after all this time?" He sniffed and grinned to himself humorlessly, spiteful at the thought of another person touching his guitar.

Just as Anthony was about to turn to Chris to ask if he played any instruments, the door to the lounge creaked again. Harsh footsteps persisted until a lithe young girl presented herself before Anthony, a contemptuous pout on her face. Before he knew it, she was sticking her finger in his face and barking down irritably at him, like a mother disciplining a child.

Anthony scowled and ducked away from her finger. Something along the lines of "What the fuck are you on about?" nearly passed his lips lips, but he paused midway through he first syllable as she continued talking.

Wait.. 'When' was he from? His hostility towards the newcomer melted into pure confusion. Who the hell was this, and how the hell did she know about him? Of course, the academy staff were aware of his predicament, but he hadn't even told anybody about him, never mind this random girl..

And then his annoyance returned an instant later. The staff hadn't kept their mouths shut. So this was going to be his life now? Word was going to get around about Anthony, and people would be pestering him about the past? And it looked like it'd already begun. Just perfect. Just what he needed. "What's it to you? I don't know where you heard that, but I'm not interested in answering any of your goddamn questions. It's none of your business where or when I came from."

Before he could get a chance to reply to the Boy Out of Time, a girl stormed into the lounge and started going off. "I'm, uh, Chris. he said, smiling nervously. He didn't like people storming in and demanding things. "What does she mean by when are you from?" he asked Anthony.

"Hello Chris, I'm Kyou," she greeted. He seemed confused about her question direct at Anthony. Although he seemed familiar with the time traveler, it seemed he didn't quite understand just who he was yet.

Kyou held back a scoff. He sure knew how to talk back. Her hands clenched into fists and rose up to rest on her hips. "It is my business. Anything with time travel or the like involves me whether you like it or not. I don't know how you got here from," she paused, her brows furrowing and her eyes narrowing in on him. The clothes alone seemed like a dead give away, but remnants of a time long past clung to his body like a virus. It was harder to determine the specific date without getting too close, but the harder and longer the Autumn looked, the more she could see four numbers written rather clearly on what she envisioned as a clock. "1980. But whoever could make a jump like that is obviously getting my attention. Especially when they nearly put me in the infirmary."

Turning back to the white haired boy, she held out a hand and gestured to the guitarist. "He's a time traveler. Or manipulator like me. Unfortunately, my stomach lets me know when someone's messing with time. For example, three days ago. When he showed up."

The girl's face turned from frustrated to muddled as she looked more and more at Anthony. "Over 50 years. I can barely go over 10..." Kyou mumbled, clearly bewildered.

Immediately, Anthony ditched his scowl for a more appropriate expression - mouth hanging ajar, sea-green eyes gawking incredulously at the petite Autumn girl before him. Good god.. She was a time-traveller? So that was why she'd known about who he was. Three days after he'd arrived in the future, and he was already getting a way out..? It almost seemed too good to be true. For once in his life, whatever entity that pulled the strings of the universe was throwing him a lifeline.

The guitarist shot up out of his seat and threw his instrument aside onto the couch, forgetting how irritated he'd been a second ago. He grabbed Kyou abruptly by the shoulders and yanked her towards him. His heart was already pounding in his chest. "If you're a time traveller, you.. You've gotta get me back to my time." He shook her a little as he spoke, adding inadvertent emphasis. Maybe he wouldn't be trapped here, after all. Maybe this could be his way out, back to John, and Bobby, and Jess.. Maybe now he would get another chance to kick the shit out of Dean for trying to shoot him in the head. He'd be able to play guitar back at the old pub again and live off of tips, kick back and play all his records, sneak into concerts.. Fuck, it'd barely been a week and he was homesick beyond belief. If he could convince this girl to help him, maybe he wouldn't have to be homesick anymore, though. "Look, I'm sorry I snapped at you. I'll do anything, just please get me back there. I'll buy you some goddamn stomach pain meds if it makes you sick - whatever it takes. I'll give you my secret stash of rare baseball cards - That's gotta be worth thousands by now. Anything." Anthony's eyes bored into Kyou's.

Chris was confused. Time travel? Anthony was from the 80's? He wasn't sure what to say, so he merely stood there in silence, waiting for an explanation. He had no idea what was going on. Hopefully Kyou or Anthony would explain. He ran his Ice Hand through his hair as a nervous habit.

OOC: Sorry for the short post :/
