While waiting for Minami, Jake started daydreaming about the tantalizing food that was oh so close to his grasp. They had time, didn't they? Time for a burger or maybe a cinnamon sugar pretzel? Hearing the girl's voice, the Autumn was awoken from his abstraction and as much as he wanted to get a bite to eat, they needed to move on. Get to the hotel that was on the outskirts of Pittsburgh, get some rest, and figure out what's going on with the missing cars. Nothing more, nothing less.
Letting out a sigh of wistfulness and slight annoyance, Jake followed the girl, easily catching up to her smaller stride and the two walked side by side as they made their way towards the exit.
"Well, I bet you'll be able to help out. I mean, they wouldn't assign you to this mission if you couldn't do anything, right?" the low voiced student said as they neared the automatic doors. Shifting his gaze from where he was headed to the girl, Jake was surprised that he didn't take a certain liking for this girl earlier. Minami Fujitani. Short, auburn hair, peppy, and seemed to have a pretty good attitude towards most things. Well, she was definitely a good mission partner, for now at least.
Outside of the airport where the pickup area was, everything was chaos. Taxis trying not to run people over, families losing track of their children left and right, people yelling random names, Jake didn't know what to do. A taxi, get a taxi, the overwhelmed student remind himself. Stepping closer to the curb, he held out a hand and waved it back and forth.
After what seemed like ages of the yellow cars ignoring his motioning to them and passing him without a second thought, a taxi slowed to a stop in front of him. Finally.
Opening the trunk, Jake threw his bag in and shimmied along the side of the car that had traffic on it, practically praying for his life that some idiot driver wouldn't hit him. Cautiously opening the door, the tall student slipped in the car, letting out a sigh of relief. Waiting for Minami, Jake leaned towards the front seat. "Double Tree Hotel," he told the driver who looked like a homeless Saint Nick. Better than nothing, I guess.
Once she was in, they were off. Unfortunately, no more than five minutes into the ride they were surrounded by tons of other taxi cars, vans, and shuttles. Letting out a huff, Jake sunk into his seat and looked to Minami. "Guess we're gonna be here a while," he commented with a shrug and slight smile. At least he'd get to spend more time with her, so that was a plus.
