| Erin was not very excited for this assignment that the school forced them all to partake in. It wasn't that she didn't like teddy bears or kids, but she had no idea how to take care of either. Being the baby in her family, she never experienced having to help raise a younger sibling, and all of her cousins were older than she was. She was clueless and it made her a little nervous.
With a big sigh, Erin walked down the hallway of the summer dorm, stopping at the door to Gabriel's room. She lifted her hand to knock but paused for a moment as she made sure she had everything. She really didn't want to see that bear. She was so thankful when Gabe said he would take it after class. After a minute, she finally knocked on the door and waited for a response, hoping she wouldn't be answered by a crying stuffed animal. | |

| Gabe headed to the door, the bear in his arms. He answered the door, smiling. "Hey, come on in." he said quietly, stepping out the way. The bear had kept him up a lot lately, and there were the beginnings of dark circles underneath his eyes. His hair was also messy. The one bad part about his power is that he couldn't do much else other than change his hair and eye color yet. "I'm glad you're here. This bear has thrown more fits than I've ever seen a baby throw. This is the worst thing the school's ever done." While he thought he was good at raising kids, as he had a babysitting job back home, but this bear was a nightmare. | |

| When Gabe answered the door, she greeted him with a smile before her eyes settled on the bear in his arms. How could something so cute also seem to be so revolting? Thankfully, at the moment, it was silent but just the thought of it going off while she was here made her tense, and no matter how much she tried to suppress the feeling, it somehow came back up. A perfect example of it rearing its ugly head was when she was finally able to walk into the dorm room and tear her gaze off of the bear and back at Gabe. Honestly, he looked horrible. He looked like he hadn't slept and he looked exhausted. She felt bad in a sense that she hadn't been holding up her part in this assignment yet, but she couldn't take it. It didn't help that as soon as Erin walked in, Gabe mentioned that the baby bear hybrid freak hadn't shut up much since they got it. "Yeah..." she muttered uneasily. "I mean... I know why they did it, but why did they have to do it?" she asked with a desperate tone, trying her best not to scare the bear or.. wake it up? | |

| 'It's obvious the school has no idea what a baby's actually like." he told her, sitting down on the couch. "No actual baby cries as much as this monstrosity does. And if they do, there's something wrong medically." As if on cue, the teddy bear began to wail. He rolled his eyes, placed the baby in Erin's arms gently. "Can you just hold him a minute while I get a 'bottle' ready?" He headed over to the kitchen. He grabbed the "formula" and made the bottle. He'd already had to buy 3 containers of the stuff. They weren't very big. He brought the bottle back over to Erin and their "child" and took it back, placing the bottle back in its mouth. He rocked it up and down as he did so, and it eventually calmed down. "Babysitting back in London has really come in handy for this." he said, sitting back down. | |

| Erin uncertainly followed Gabe to the couch, sitting down next to him with a nod in agreement to everything he had said. She had opened her mouth to respond when the bear quickly started crying. Instantly, she shut her mouth and just stared at the thing. Her eyes widened for a moment as Gabriel gave her the bear. Her first reaction was to push the thing away from her, but she knew that she couldn't do that. It'd only cry more. So, instead, she resulted in holding it between her hands as far away from herself as she could, staring at it like it was about to catch fire or something. "Is it always like this?" she asked, looking over at Gabriel who was in the kitchen preparing the "food." This was awful. It was bad enough Erin had no clue as to what to do. She couldn't even call the bear by the name they had given it. Thankfully, within a few minutes, the summer had come back and taken the bear away, feeding it until it stopped crying. With a sigh of relief as her muscles finally relaxed, Erin looked over at the two of them. Sure, she had physically calmed down, but she was still super stressed out."I'm glad that you're confident in this and that you know what you're doing..." she muttered. She felt awful, overall. She had never felt like this. Whether it was from helplessness, stress, or both, she couldn't tell. | |

| Confidence. Riiight. "You just gotta act like you know what you're doing and soon enough you will know what you're doing." he told her, laughing slightly. Soon, the bear finished the bottle and so Gabe carefully got up and placed it on his bed, so it could take a "nap." "Thank God I have some peace now. I was going insane listening to that bear. It's really creepy sometimes." | |

| "...Soon enough you'll know what you're doing." Erin wished that were the case. Who knew. Maybe he was right about that. When he got back from putting the bear to bed, it was obvious how much she had relaxed subconsciously. It was crazy how one little thing could get her so worked up. It wasn't like it was a real thing. She could totally just toss it in the trash and get an F. She didn't care. Somehow, though, she found the whole assignment utterly repulsive. When he sat back down, she smiled at him, her hands oddly folded neatly in her lap. "Only sometimes?" she teased before laughing it off. However, she quickly fell silent again, her gaze dropping to the floor. She felt terrible for dumping this whole thing on him, but she knew that she would make them fail. "This is so hard..." she finally groaned. "Why did the school even approve of this assignment anyway? What's the point in this? All it does is keep people from wanting kids ever instead of hoping they wait to have kids!" All of her previous worries were quickly turning into aggravation. She hated that she was forced into this. What did she do to deserve being stuck in this situation? | |

| Gabe shook his head. "I have no idea what they were thinking when they decided this was a good idea." He noticed Erin looked upset for some reason. "Hey, is something wrong?" he asked, "You seem a little down." | |

| She couldn't really wrap her brain around why she was suddenly feeling so frustrated. "I just..." she stopped for a minute, rubbing her hands through her hair and taking a deep breath. She had to calm down. What sucked the most was the fact that she really had absolutely no idea why she was so upset. "I... It's not like I don't like kids. I do. They're cute and adorable with their wee baby feet and hands and chubby faces, but... I have no fucking idea what I'm doing! That motherly gene must have skipped over me," She told him in a loud whisper, trying not to wake up the bear in the next room. She really didn't want to deal with that right now. "And I don't want to screw this up for us. For you, mostly because I couldn't care less about an F on one assignment. And here we are, halfway through this thing and I haven't done a single thing!" She took another deep breath, trying to keep her nerves down. "And you look like hell because of it..." | |

| Gabriel walked over to the girl and pulled her into a big hug, which made his heart flutter slightly. 'Hey, it's alright. I'm managing just fine. Besides, we're only teenagers! It's not like we're meant to be parents this early in life. It's also only a bloody bear anyway. If it were a real baby you'd be much better at it, I'm sure of it." he told her, smiling. | |

| As Gabriel pulled her in, Erin didn't even try to fight it. It was a little weird, sure, but it was comforting. She didn't exactly hug back, but she fully accepted his. Instead, she leaned her head on his shoulder and let out a heavy sigh, closing her eyes for a moment to calm herself down. "I don't know about that, but thank you. It really is only a stupid bear, isn't it?" She fell silent, her brain trying to relax before she chuckled. "Why is it that you seem to be the only one that sees me upset? It's happened twice now in only a short time." She found it funny and curious. She didn't know what was up with herself about all of that, but it was kind of nice. | |

| "Maybe it's because we remind each other of home, even though we lived on separate islands." he suggested, shrugging his shoulders. It was true, at least for him it was. even though Gabriel lived in London and Erin lived in Dublin, she reminded him of home. Maybe it was the accent. Who knew what it was. It was just one of those things that didn't have a definite explanation. | |

| For a few minutes, Erin didn't say anything, but she agreed with him. He did feel like home, which was weird. she wasn't really expecting to find anyone she could connect with like him. He knew how it was to be so far away from home. Finally, with a deep breath, she straightened herself up off his shoulder and smiled, her eyes slightly puffy from trying to hold back tears. "I think you're right!" she told him. "It hasn't been easy, that's for sure." She paused for a moment, thinking over everything that had just happened. She would be lying if she said she didn't feel stupid for all of this drama she was causing and how girly she was acting, but it wasn't something that could be helped. "Hey, um.. I just wanted to say sorry. For all of this that I've done and haven't done," she said, motioning to the bear in the other room. | |

| The Summer shook his head. "You don't need to be sorry." he told her. "I'm the one who chose to do this. I could've dumped the bear off on you plenty of times. But then the bear probably would have exploded." He laughed slightly. He could have dropped the bear off with the girl whenever he wanted to, but he didn't. He knew that she didn't want to do this, so he kept the bear and tried to take care of it while still maintaining some piece of his sanity. | |

| She laughed at his last statement, knowing just how true it was. Had he not been here taking care of it, the stupid thing would have exploded on day one. Probably in a trash can on the edge of campus. "You are probably right!" she told him. She still felt bad, though. She wanted to try to help somehow but she was most definitely clueless. How was she supposed to know what the thin wanted when it cried? There were so many things it could cry over. Was she just supposed to guess until it shut up? "This might sound weird, but you're going to have to teach me how to take care of that thing..." | |
