A shiver ran up Luke’s spine as he trudged into Rosebury. His breath curled around him in a faint mist before quickly dissipating into the wind. It was freezing outside, the sun peaking out from behind clouds that drifted across the sky at their own path. To Luke, he felt that he was trapped under one of their shadows. Of course it was also just really cloudy and it was hard not to be but that was beside the point. Really, he was just trying to be poetic.

He wouldn’t say that life at Beata was bad but...He was not fond of how he was almost always confined to his gloves. With the fact that almost everybody he was going to meet had a power, he was forced to always wear them when in public. However, it had also led him to be less social than he was back home - not that he was that social anyways. While he could act polite while talking to people, he preferred not to as most of the time it just ended with awkward talks of them trying to find something in common. He hadn’t even met a lot of people here in Beata...He was a loner. And that kind of sucked.

He came to a stop as his coat vibrated in a short burst, startling him. His hand sank into one of his pockets as he pulled out his phone, surprised to see the screen alight with a text. It was his mother, being as worrisome as always but it did bring a soft smile to his lips. He read over the short text that was simply asking how he was doing. He paused, putting his phone away for a small moment to pull off one of his gloves before receiving his phone once more. Holding his phone in his ungloved hand, he used his thumb to type out a response as he started to move forward, his other hand stuffed in his other pocket.

As the winter prefect walked along the path through Rosebury, he had his train of thought focused on the sound his footsteps were creating. He hated coming here when it wasn't raining. He absolutly hated it. There was no sound to block out the rest. All of the chattering, the sounds of cars moving, the sounds of people walking. What he hated the most was hearing people talk. He felt like he was always eavesdropping on them, he never meant to but it just happened because of his hearing.

Now why was he here if he hated it so much? Well he had to run and get something from the store of some project of his, and it couldn't wait another day. Not to mention there were a few things he could get for an experiment he was doing.

He continued along the path, his head looking down on the ground as he focused on his footsteps. He repeated what he needed over and over again in his head totally not focusing on where he was going. Since Luke wasn't making any other noise than the sounds of his footsteps, and the soft tap of his fingers on his phone, Mason wasn't in any position to notice him. Magic didn't even hear the boy until it was too late. The two had collided, though it didn't budge the prefect too much, he still fumbled to apologize. "Sorry! I wasn't looking to where I was going."

It hadn't been a head-on collision between the two, more of Luke clipping Magic's shoulder but it had been enough. With his glove-less hand out in front of him and with him hitting Magic's arm more or less, it hadn't been hard for them to make the dreaded skin contact that was needed for Luke's gift to activate. He stumbled away from the perfect, his phone slipping from his grasp as a wave of pain flashed throughout his body as his body started to work on mimicking the gift of the older Winter. "Crap," he breathed under his breath. By the time his phone fell to the ground (luckily landing on its back and not shattering) it wasn't just a 'thump' - it was deafening.

It was as if somebody had accidentally turned up the volume of the whole world,  Luke now suddenly being painfully aware of every single noise that was happening around him and it easily overwhelmed him. He threw his hands up to cover his ears in an attempt to lessen the pain as let himself fall to the ground, wincing in pain. What kind of power was this? Luke grimaced as he stared up at the older student, feeling a bit sorry that he had to deal with this 24-7. Sure, he figured that he had since learned how to deal with it but...The time until he had learned to do that must of been painful.

Magic looked at the boy who he accidentally ran into. His concern only grew more when the boy started stumbling away, and then the prefect had heard what the kid had said? What was wrong? He watched as the phone fell to the ground, unsure of what to do. He didn't run into the kid that hard did he? Concern became apparent on his face with Luke used his hands in attempt to block out what ever noise that was bothering him. Magic stepped closer to the boy when he fell to the ground.

"Are you okay?" He asked once again, but at the same time trying to figure out who this student was. Mason felt like he should know him, but the name and gift was escaping him. Come on Mason think! Finally a name and a gift appeared in his head. Luke, he was a winter, and his gift was... power replication.. Oh.. Oh no.. He was dealing with Magic's level hearing, but he hadn't gotten used to it, so it was like watching his younger self learning how to deal with it. In attempt to help the boy, Magic used his gift to ward off all the noise, but it was kind of hard to do. A few noises slipped through, there were just too many to fend off, but it should help a little bit.

Luke barely heard the Winter's question of if he was alright...Well, that was a lie. He did hear it - it was simply lost in the jumble of the sounds that pelted him from all sides. It was beyond painful, his head pounding as it attempted to make sense and understand all of the voices, chirps, footsteps that he heard all at once. The few moments it took for the prefect to figure out who he was seemed like agonizing hours until the sounds become silent. He almost jolted when he realized that there was almost no sounds to be heard now. The few that did last - while painful - was nothing compared to what he had just felt and he slowly lowered his hands from his ears. This? This was a pain he could deal with as he turned his gaze up toward the student he had bumped into. The name came easily to him, it was the prefect of the Winter house of course. Well...Nickname at least. Magic. A sigh ran though his body as he mouthed two words to the older boy - 'Thank you.'

Silencing so many sounds was straining on the prefect. This was not something he did often. In fact it was kind of rare for him to have the need to silence sounds. He really should work on that aspect of his gift. It seemed that using his gift was working since the boy had dropped his hands from his ears. Magic let out a soft sigh, relieved that the boy seemed to be in less pain. He wouldn't ever wish that pain of sudden super hearing on anyone else. It was utter hell dealing with it when he had nothing to silence it back home, and not to mention he was stuck in the middle of a city. He never wanted to live through that again. Magic opened his mouth to speak, but made sure he spoke under a whisper. "How long will this last?" He asked quietly.

A small sneeze erupted from a young girl as she ran towards the grocery store. She was in a rush to grab baking ingredients before the sale finished. After the mess that some called New Years, she had to apologize to Joseph using the only method she knew. Cookies. Hopefully he wouldn't be put off and accept her apology.

She paused to catch her breath, her throat burning from a mix of cold air and the stress from dashing to the town. Her hands rested on her knees. The sight of two boys bumping into each other caught her attention. It was common for people to bump into each other around here. It happened almost too often. Perhaps they were living an anime. Any regular accidental collision wouldn't have drawn her gaze. But this wasn't regular. She shot up at the sight of one of them gripping his head in pain and falling to the ground. His back was turned to her, but she wasted no time rushing over to the boy.

As she grew closer it seemed his pain had subsided somewhat, but her concern still pushed her towards the pair. Glancing at the other boy, she was surprised to see Magic. He did seem to have a knack for getting into sticky situations though. Slowing her pace, she bent down and reached for the boy's hand. "Are you oka..." her voice trailed off when the blond's face finally came into view. Was that Luke? The boy with... Oh no. By the time she had realized who he was, it was too late. She had already grabbed his bare hand. The Autumn stood and lurched back in surprise, falling into the dark-haired boy. Oh boy, what a mess they were in now

PostSubject: Re: I don't think we are in Beata anymore...[Closed]   I don't think we are in Beata anymore...[Closed] EmptyWed Feb 24, 2016 1:37 pm

Luke blinked up at Magic as the older student asked about how long this would last, causing the young Winter to frown softly as he thought about it. It had been a good while since he had copied a gift...But it wouldn’t change the fact that it would be a minute or so. As far as he could tell, seeing how his gift had such power when it was mastered - it came with limited almost. One such limit was the time limit he could hold the power. The copied gift tended to last a minute, only a short amount in the scheme of things. In fact, he was pretty sure the Audiokinesis he had copied from Magic was already fading -  thought it was hard to tell with the lack of noise. His mouth open, ready to tell Magic that fact when a girl stepped in front of him.

He recoiled in surprise when the girl suddenly reached down and grabbed his uncovered hand and in a moment it was as if time slowed down. It didn’t take very much effort to recognize the girl that had attempted to help him - he had only met a handful of people after all. Seems she figured it out at the same time, the fear flashing across her face as it hit her what she had done...Fear spread throughout Luke, along with the pain of his body replacing Magic’s gift with Kyou’s. When he spotted Kyou’s attempt to stand up and back away, he lurched forward- tightening his hand around hers. Time travel, that was not what she had called her gift that day in the library? Seeing how things always seemed to go wrong when Luke copied a gift, he didn’t want to go back on his own.

The pain that had started when Kyou grabbed him quickly started to subside but another feeling replaced it. It wasn’t an easy feeling to describe, feeling like a mixture of thing. A sicking feel washed over him as the whole world seemed to blur around him as if he had gotten dizzy. His body felt unstable for a moment as he swallowed back the bile that rose in his throat for that single second before everything became solid once more. He blinked, getting a clear view of his surroundings as he released Kyou’s hand - taking note that they had accidentally dragged Magic with them as well.

They were in a small clearing, trees towering over them as their branches waved in the gentle breeze. The grass was soft and springy underneath him as he placed his bare hand down on top of it for support. Any sign of Rosebury was gone - but that was hardly a surprise when one had just traveled through time. However, it only took that few moment for everything to hit him at once.

Something dripped from his nose, landing on his pant leg. His eyes flickered down to see a red splotch spreading out as more crimson drops followed soon after. He raised his gloved hand to his mouth. “Oh,” he managed weakly as everything started to blur once again - this time from the effects of the time travel. Luke swayed where he sat for a few moments before his whole body went limp as he landed on the grass with a thud. His eyes stared unfocused at the sky, doing his best cling to the edge of consciousness.

He decided to cling by thinking, giving his brain little chance to relax and cause him to faint. He felt sick and weak - which wasn't all that surprising seeing how he had just managed to travel through time. He was lucky he didn’t throw up from how nauseous he felt, and the wariness that plagued his body was a combination of Kyou’s gift but also his own. While he suffered all the drawbacks of the copied power, his own had a few as well. He always felt weak when it wore off, but copying two gifts in a row? It was a bit of a toll of its own. He was also a bit surprised that her gift had already worn off - it didn’t seem like long enough but...Meh, time travel was a tricky subject. While he completed his self-assessment, he took in deep, ragged breaths as he started to slowly recover.

Once he felt well enough, he let himself gather in the surroundings a bit more. Where…When where they? That was the question - one that he felt unsure about and he was the one that brought them here. His eyes narrowed as he attempted to gather his thoughts and sort through them. The library, was the first thing that came to his mind when he tried to figure out why he may have brought them to this time period - having a feeling it wasn’t completely random. And so he sat there, lost in his own thoughts as he stared up at the sky.

Magic saw the girl approaching, and didn't think much of it, but as soon as he saw her reaching for Luke's hand he tried to reach out, and stop her, but it was too late. The winter prefect could only watch as Luke went through another moment of pain, but then everything seemed to blur. It was a weird feeling. Magic looked around at the area around the three of them, but it was hard to focus on anything, it all seemed to melt away at least for him it did.

He closed his eyes for a moment, and when he opened them again, shock filled him. They were in a total different area.. well time. He had knew both of the students, and their gifts, and because of Kyou touching Luke, they ended up.. in another time.. There wasn't a building in site, just a bunch of trees, and fields.. He shifted in his spot, closing his eyes again to focus on the noises around him, but he only heard the various animals moving about. At least they weren't sent back to dinosaur times, at least he thought they weren't. "When are we? I don't hear anyone around us.." He asked the other two hoping they would have an idea as to what year it was. He hoped there wasn't some animal coming after them.

"Shit" was the only word that crossed her mind as Luke tightened the grip they had on each other's hands. The contact between her and Luke, and now her and Magic only meant that Luke wouldn't be alone on the endeavour they were about to face. She scrunched her eyes shut, expecting the nauseating experience that would soon arrive.

As if in an instant, the trio were no longer in 2036. Kyou feared opening her eyes, but the lack of sound, more the lack of 'modern' sounds, only increased her already extreme curiosity. She took a deep breath, partially to calm the rising sickening feeling in her stomach, and opened her eyes, wincing at the sudden brightness. After her brown eyes adjusted, the sight of a field surrounded by towering trees filled her vision. It was almost too serene. The unexpected shift from civilization to nature added to the headache that grew by the second in her head. She gripped the side of her head tightly, slightly pulling on her bronze hair as she lowered herself to the ground.

Within a few seconds, she was nearly writhing on the ground in pain. The combination of migraine, nausea, and over-all soreness made her feel like passing out that instant. Kyou took as many deep breaths as possible, holding her stomach and head as she sat in the swaying grass, attempting to send the pain away. Nothing seemed to help.

One major drawbacks of her gift, was the ability to sense shifts in time. These senses came in the form of stomach-churning pains that almost always faded within a few seconds. This was different. She could tell. It didn't go away. They had obviously traveled a long way.

Holding back the rising bile in her throat, she dropped her hand from her head and let out a small sigh. At Magic's question, the image of a small clock, complete with dates, appeared in her mind. It wound back for what seemed to be hours, finally resting on a rather strange date. "Monday, May 14, 1607. It's almost noon." She was shocked at how far the three had traveled. Her current state made much more sense after hearing her own words, but she began to wonder why that date? It obviously held some sort of importance to one of them, but she couldn't seem to put her finger on the importance of this specific time. "Does that sound familiar to you two?"

The silence was welcoming to Luke as he laid there, letting the soft sway of the grass tickle his uncovered hand. He could hear Magic and Kyou - also welcoming to know that his plan of not getting stuck in time alone had worked. When Magic asked for the date, he frowned. He had no idea, still running why they had been brought to this time but when Kyou spoke up - it hit him. He slowly pushed himself upright, grimacing as blood continued to trickle from his nose, thought at a much slower pace then before. His stomach was still tying knots with itself, but he felt stable enough to speak up.

"May 14, 1607," he started as he pulled his legs to his chest, bowing over them as he took in a deep breath in another attempt to settle his stomach. "Is the day that Jamestown, Virgina was founded. We're at the founding of America." He grimaced as he shook his head slightly. "After I gave you the History of Beata the day we met, Kyou, I ended up reading the history of the United States afterwards. I think we were pulled to this time because of that."

"Well this is just great. We are four hundred years in the past, with who in hell knows around." The winter prefect gave off a sigh. This was way before anyone even came to North Dakota. Hell they weren't even in North Dakota at the moment, it was claimed by some other country right? Wasn't it France? Hell he wouldn't know, he was a math, and science person not a history person. He made sure he kept listening for anything out of the ordinary, god it wouldn't do well to have either of them wounded.

He turned back to the two other students, seeing how they were both on the ground, one who looked like they were in extreme pain, and the other had a nose bleed. Why was he unaffected? It was kind of weird, but he didn't need to worry about that right now. "Well it doesn't look like we are going anywhere for a while.. Our only way back looks like hell, and you." He gestured to Luke. "Probably exhausted your gift, and what ever energy you had." Magic let out a sigh. What were they supposed to do? If they moved somewhere they could end up inside a wall when they travel back, but if they stayed still they could probably get attacked by something... Jeez.. This was quite a predicament.

PostSubject: Re: I don't think we are in Beata anymore...[Closed]   I don't think we are in Beata anymore...[Closed] EmptyWed Mar 16, 2016 8:37 pm

From Magic's tone, she could tell he was on edge. The situation they had gotten themselves into wasn't a good one. And he was right, who knows what or who could be around. Even though North Dakota hadn't been settled in, there was bound to be indigenous running around, doing their daily business. Magic and Luke might be caught in a rather troublesome issue, but part of her wondered how they would react to her? No one at this time would have seen an Asian, and perhaps the natives might see her as a lighter skinned relative. The questions crossed her mind quickly before she was pulled out of her thoughts by the reality of the situation.

The dark-haired boy was right. Kyou was in no condition to be making any trips, let along one over four hundred years. She was somewhat confident in her abilities, but nothing of that magnitude could be done again without the help of another. Luke was seemingly just as busted and worn out as her, though she imagined, from his reaction, that he couldn't feel the effects of the time shift like she could. At least he had that going for him.

"Even if I could travel right now, there's no way I could make that trip. The only explanation I can think of why we went so far back, is that Luke's lack of control makes the power really strong. Stronger than we could ever be without proper training." It did seem that way, at least. "If Luke could control, maybe we could get back... Maybe..."

It was terrible to admit, but the Autumn not only doubted herself, but him as well. It took her years to figure out how to slow time even by a second. They didn't have years. Either it was learn quickly, or spend months, maybe years, relying on Kyou. At least with her, they could be sure they were going forward in time.

The bronze haired girl let out a long, dragged out sigh. The nausea was slowly but surely fading. "We can't stay here. We have to go somewhere to rest, somewhere safe. There won't be any civilization around here, but I can't for sure say there aren't any people roaming around."

PostSubject: Re: I don't think we are in Beata anymore...[Closed]   I don't think we are in Beata anymore...[Closed] EmptyWed Mar 30, 2016 3:05 pm

This was all his fault, wasn't it? It was something Luke couldn't help but think as he stared at the two, biting his lip as he pushed himself to his feet. His stomach tumbled in disagreement, but he manged to wangle it down as he took a deep breath as Kyou stated that they couldn't say here. She was right, and he hated it. The issue he saw was that what would happen if they moved and started teleporting? When they returned to their own time...If they returned, would they appear in a building by accident...He didn't want to think of the ways that could go wrong.

His eyes flickered around as he hugged his stomach, feeling a bit better every second, even if not by much. "We should we go thought? This isn't Beata anymore, we don't know the layout. Only...A rough idea of where things will be and...Well, that isn't all that helpful," he growled softly with a shake of his head. Before his eyes turned to the Winter Prefect. "Can you hear anything that might help us?" he asked, a bit hopefully for anything. He waited a few seconds for a reply before he turned to look at Kyou, wondering about what she had said. Was their only hope in him mastering her gift? He had no idea how long it would take...But...Maybe if he knew how exactly it worked? His eyes glimmered in hope. Maybe it was a bit like a puzzle - if he knew all the pieces, he could get the bigger picture and...Hopefully he could get it to work! Besides, as long as they didn't make a giant jump like that again, he was sure he could survive the trip without getting a nosebleed...Hopefully. Hopefully was the keyword there.

PostSubject: Re: I don't think we are in Beata anymore...[Closed]   I don't think we are in Beata anymore...[Closed] EmptyWed Mar 30, 2016 3:57 pm

Magic let out another sigh. This was quite the fucking predicament. He crossed his arms over his chest, and closed his eyes to listen. Breathing from his two friends.. nothing.. movement in the forest of animals doing what ever... nothing to out of the ordinary. No heavy steps that sounded human... or larger animals. He strained to hear further, but there wasn't anything he could detect. "Nope don't hear anything.. aside from animals moving through the forest. Like birds, and smaller animals.." The winter prefect said.

"And somewhere safe? Thats going to be fucking hard to find considering we are in the middle of no where with the nearest town a good many months of travel away." He let out another sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose. They didn't have food, or water.. or anything.. None of the students here were survival experts.. The most that Magic could do was defend the small group from anything dangerous.. Magic turned away from the two and quickly went on a search to find a decent sized stick, and when he did, he came back. He quickly shoved the stick in the ground where the three of them sat.

"Alright.. Here is the deal. We don't need to wonder to far from this area, cause when we can go back, we need to go back in this spot unless we want to end up in a wall or something." Mason said. "And we aren't going to separate from each other for too long, because I'm the only one that has the most offensive gift." He looked around them once again making sure he noticed any change in the slightest of sounds. "We are gonna go look for this 'safe' place. Can both of you walk a decent distance if we have too?" He asked, he knew Luke was able to stand but moving was a different beast all together when someone was weak. Hopefully if they could move they could find a cave or something to defend them on some sides. It would make it easier on Magic in the long run.
