Rhett waited patiently on the bench for his family's car to arrive. He'd been told his sister would be coming soon, as her power was beginning to show itself. He had no idea what it was just yet, after all, he'd left for Beata when she was thirteen. Other students were coming along in various vehicles, and he found it strange that students would be arriving so late in the semester, but he wouldn't question anything. There was the car, just now pulling up on the gravel driveway was a dreary-looking sedan with the silhouette of a girl in the front seat.
It hurt her eyes to look at the car. It glowed so brightly that it nearly blinded her. The engine was the worst; it being a pure white. Sydney had been stuck in infrared for days now. Every machine she passed burned itself into her corneas. The sun shouldn't even need mentioning.
"Go on honey, your brother is waiting!" Her mother rushed her out of the car, barely giving Sydney enough time to put on a pair of sunglasses so that she wouldn't blind herself walking around. Keeping her gaze fixated on the ground, she walked over to Rhett, not looking at the car as it drove away.
He grinned at her, pulling his sister into a hug. She froze up, unsure as for what to do. The Spring boy sighed and held her out at arm's length. "Glad you're here." She just looked away, not saying anything. Even with the sunglasses on she couldn't look at anyone directly, their core temperature was just too hot for her to take just now.
A flicker of brightness caught her eye, but nothing else, as she couldn't see colors again until she fixed her... "problem".
