The Power Index Project

What is this?
This is a collaborative project to rank every established character in the Beata universe by combat strength. It's similar to the strength pyramid made by /a/ for the Raildex universe.

How will this work?
We won't be ranking everyone at once. Instead, for the sake of accuracy, we'll be gradually ranking twenty characters at a time in batches. Anybody can jump in here to give their input on how certain characters should be ranked. Make sure to provide arguments, examples from RP, and excessive bullet points to reinforce your point.

Don't be salty if your think your character is ranked too low. This isn't a 'who-beats-who' list. Higher characters are generally stronger than those below them, but that doesn't mean lower-ranked characters couldn't beat them, and having a low ranking doesn't mean your character is necessarily weak.

While this will be a democratic process and anybody can give input, please remember that I'm the one running this topic. I'll say which characters we'll be ranking for the day, I'll be the one maintaining the "official" Power Index, and when the time comes, I'll probably be the one creating the chart in picture form. That doesn't mean my word is absolute, but it does mean that I'm in charge here.

The actual official chart (resembling the strength pyramid I linked above) will wait until we've ranked every single character in the Beata universe, including Beata 1.0, dead characters, and certain NPCs.

Confused?
This isn't measuring the power of your character's gift. The Power Index measures how strong a character would be in battle. Physical strength, skill in hand-to-hand combat, and skill with a weapon are all taken into account. A powerful gift helps, but it's not everything.

Remember:
1. One character beating another character in a fight once, or even more than once, doesn't necessarily mean they should be ranked higher.
2. Adults aren't automatically stronger than students. Some of these students are fuckin' crazy. On the same line of thought, being an older student doesn't necessarily mean you're stronger than a newer student.
3. This list is highly subjective. Everything on it is based entirely on opinion. It doesn't really mean anything.

Don't be afraid to argue or disagree, but don't be an asshat either. Give your reasons and stay respectful.

As explained above, we'll be ranking groups of twenty characters at a time.

Our list of priority:
1. Active students.
2. Guardians, teachers, and residents.
3. People in Black.
4. Binned students.
5. Beata 1.0 characters (that didn't return to Beata 2.0).
6. NPCs.

New characters will just be tacked on to the first available group, which means that a lot of batches will probably have more than twenty students.

EDIT: Okay, so it's 4 AM and I'm totally out of it, and I accidentally added Heron before I should've (he wasn't part of this batch—I was staring at Night's signature while rearranging and I guess I slipped him in there).

But... the list is at sixty. So that means someone is missing. Possibly multiple someones, since I completely spaced.

EDIT2: Okay guys, I got it. Jade was the missing suspect. @_@ Heron (I almost typed Modem there; I need sleep) has been removed. Jade has been re-added. I could've swore that I added her, but I guess she disappeared somehow and Heron snuck in there instead. Damn it Heron, wait your turn.

I'm going to be brutally honest here and say I think Monty should be around the 22-24 rank. Has he actually ever won a fight? It seems he is constantly being beaten and making a fool of himself. I mean sure, he can turn into a wolf, but that doesn't mean that he can still use it properly.

Many lower characters haven't battled at all, they've never had as many chances to fail as Montare

Not defending his position, but just explaining my reasoning.

Montare's been hyped up as a top fighter since Day 1 and has a good offensive gift on top of that. You can say he's been humiliated a lot, because he has, but he rarely retaliates with actual violence. He just kinda... skulks away with his tail between his legs, sometimes literally. Put him in an actual 1v1 fight with another character and you might see him grow some balls and kick ass.

The Power Index measures a projected combat strength. Personality obviously has some impact on the rankings, but for the sake of accuracy, you're assuming that this is ranked by how characters would fight in a situation where they had the complete intention of beating/killing an opponent (or multiple opponents).

I haven't eaten today and didn't get much sleep, so none of this probably makes sense, but yeah. There's my justification.

However, like I said, I'm not going to defend his position. If people can convincingly argue why he should be nerfed, then I'll nerf him. Majority opinion rules (for the most part), which is why I keep asking you guys for feedback.
